Highlights: The parliamentary group of ÖDP/Bürgerforum does not let up in the fight for an on-demand bus. In an application, which is to be dealt with on Thursday in the Murnau municipal council, she brings up an extension of the contract with the Omobi company until July 23, the day of the referendums. The company is insolvent after Deutsche Bahn, which bought in 2018 with a double-digit million sum, withdrew as an investor at the beginning of May.

Murnau – This is another (setback) for all those who would like to see the Murnau on-demand bus Omobi buried and who favour a ring bus system for the market in the future: Clever Shuttle will most likely fail as a possible new operator of local public transport in Murnau if the Omobi on-demand bus is closed after 30 June, following a decision by the municipal council on 27 March, no longer curves through the market. The company is insolvent after Deutsche Bahn, which bought in 2018 with a double-digit million sum, withdrew as an investor at the beginning of May. A few months ago, it was leaked from local council circles at the time, the then DB subsidiary had allegedly been interested in the possibility of transporting Murnau citizens on demand. And Clever Shuttle was also considered a candidate for a ring bus line, which is being promoted by the CSU, Free Voters, Alliance 90/The Greens, Mehr Bewegen, and the SPD. This is evidenced by a submission from the administration.

Motion on Thursday in the committee

In view of the fact that a potential candidate has probably left the group of bidders, the application of the ÖDP/Bürgerforum, which is to be dealt with in the municipal council meeting tomorrow, Thursday, makes sense. The content: The parliamentary group would like to see an extension of the current contract with the Murnau-based start-up Omobi beyond 30 June. "At least until July 23," says parliamentary group co-spokesman Wolfgang Küpper. According to Küpper, this could "avoid a public transport gap" until the day of the referendums for the people of Murnau. All those who are dependent on public transport would be helped."

The initiative of the group, to which Mayor Rolf Beuting also belongs, is known to Clemens Deyerling. "I've heard about it," says the Omobi managing director. He does not release any further quotes. He has imposed an almost vow of silence on himself because his statement in the past has not exactly caused goodwill among some representatives of Murnau's local politics. Deyerling does not want to diminish his company's chances of getting a chance to get a chance under certain circumstances by making statements that get down the wrong throat. Küpper, however, is more talkative. As far as he knows, there is "definitely interest" on the part of Omobi. He denies direct communication with Deyerling as to whether a little more than a three-week commitment would be possible.

However, there would probably still be some hurdles to overcome. Above all, the question of the concession remains unresolved. These are awarded by the government of Upper Bavaria. It remains to be seen whether the authority will grant permission for such a short period until 23 July. "Normally, such licenses are issued for three to five years," says one who is familiar with the subject matter but does not want to be named. Allegedly, the town hall administration in the person of Philipp Zehnder, environmental and mobility officer of the Murnau market, has already felt for the government. The fact that talks have taken place was confirmed by town hall spokeswoman Annika Röttinger on a Tagblatt request – but not because of a concession. As far as they know, this is a matter for the operator. "We are in contact with the government of Upper Bavaria about the funding." The background: It is said that the Murnau market may have to repay subsidies it receives for the on-demand bus. This problem had surfaced in the municipal council meeting on May 16 and had caught local politics off guard (we reported).

Open letter from Murnau Miteinander

In addition to the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council, on whose initiative the referendums are largely based, Murnau Miteinander, an association of committed citizens, has now also positioned itself clearly. The board of the association describes it as an "embarrassment" for the municipality and the market town council in an open letter to the mayor and municipal council, which is available to the Tagblatt, should young people, seniors and many other people without a car be left without public transport from 1 July. It goes on to say: "Whatever the citizens' petition and the Council's petition might bring, they have only one thing in common: they are too late. Voters don't deserve years without public transport and it's absolutely impossible." From 1 July, a practicable and affordable solution must be found for everyone. "Politicians owe it to the people."

And the association demands more cooperation and less opposition from the elected representatives. At the moment, bickering and verbal wrestling are very important. What would be called for would be a "creative scuffle in the sense of pulling together to find a good solution by the end of June".
