There were completely satisfied faces on Father's Day at the Fishermen's Festival in Haag. The popular event once again thrilled the many visitors.

Haag – 400 trout, 200 mackerel and 80 kilograms of fish dumplings: In order to be able to spoil their many guests with these delicacies, the Fishermen's Friends Haag have spared no effort again this year. At the traditional fishermen's festival on Father's Day, there were completely satisfied faces.

"You won't find such delicacies everywhere," said one visitor who had patiently joined the long queue of people waiting in front of the barbecue and sales stand. Smoky-spicy aroma blew around the nose of the guests as soon as they queuished and intensified the anticipation of what was soon to be eaten. The fact that the "fish frying" demanded a lot of skill from the club members could not be overlooked as an attentive onlooker. After all, the food had to be properly plugged in, then closely observed until the skin turned dark brown. At the end, it was pushed down from the plug as a whole and landed safely on the table, where trout or mackerel were wrapped in paper – very quaint, just as is the custom when eating fish on a stick. One stand further on, the grilled food was sizzled on a hot tray: there were fish balls and steaks, plus potato salad and crisp pretzels. For the success of the festival, the helpers had already lent a hand the day before.

Because the spring weather on Father's Day still hadn't really gotten going, a party tent was set up as a precaution, said club chairman Stefan Lastowitza. Along the waterfront "promenade" there was also seating on beer table sets.

If you wanted to be pampered with a dessert after the spicy main course, Elisabeth Haunschild's stand was the right place for you. The chairwoman of the cultural association Haag, together with many women from the village, had provided a cake buffet that made your mouth water just by looking at it. Meanwhile, the comrades of the Haag volunteer fire brigade kept order in the parking lot. Of course, the many pedal knights who had headed for the festival at the Hague Pond with their bikes were fine. Conclusion: The Hague Fishermen's Festival has become a magnet for visitors – which has long since spread in the region.
