Stupefaction, this Thursday morning, for the users of the Parisian Vélib'. And even for pedestrians, some of whom did not miss the poster posted on a large part of the self-service bicycles in the capital. On the back of these two-wheelers, a collective has, in the night, pasted an anti-abortion message. "What if you had let him live?" it is written, with the drawing of a fetus growing, then becoming a baby and finally... A cheerful cyclist.
An act that did not fail to react. "The collage is very well done, you might think of normal advertising, but in the end it's a scandalous message. It disgusts me. I hadn't seen it. It makes me want to get off my Vélib', "says Claire, crossed in the fifteenth arrondissement.

Behind this action, obviously, "The Survivors". A pro-life collective that communicated on its website to explain its gesture. "Let us give every unborn child a chance to be happy: faced with the complexity of a situation, let us tackle determinisms. Let him try the adventure of life! Young people outraged by the suffering and injustice caused by abortion, the Survivors will not remain silent," write its representatives.
A complaint will be filed
Who add, further: "Every life is worth living. At a time when a bill aims to enshrine abortion in the Constitution, the Survivors have decided to act on behalf of all those who we miss. We will not tolerate a supreme dichotomous norm in which abortion, like the right to life, becomes a fundamental right. »

The Survivors was born a little less than ten years ago now, in 2016. Its members are accustomed to communication shots, which they master perfectly. They are often said to be close to the far right, which they always defend.
Their action is obviously not to the liking of the management of Vélib'. "The Syndicat Autolib Vélib Métropole and Smovengo (SAVM), Velib's service provider, condemn in the strongest terms the wild installation of stickers on Velib' on the night of Wednesday 24 to Thursday 25 May 2023. This poster campaign has never been authorized, "denounces the company on its Twitter account.
We will file a complaint. https://t.co/iw5l4KNE9W

"Advertising of any kind is strictly prohibited on public service bicycles deployed in the Greater Paris Metropolis. The SAVM and Vélib' Métropole will take any necessary action with the courts. Given the number of bikes and their circulation, we invite the community of users who wish to do so to remove the stickers they would find on their bike. A complaint will be filed.
