Dry your laundry in the sun to make it whiter
One of the simplest and cheapest tricks to whiten laundry is to lay it out in the sun to dry. This natural light has an action not only disinfecting, but also whitening. It even helps to overcome some yellow stains, especially on baby clothes. And to strengthen its action, you can soak the damaged area with a little lemon juice before washing. But, to avoid discoloration, it is better to use this trick only on white textiles.
A soda percarbonate bath for perfectly white laundry
To revive the white of a fabric that has grayed or yellowed, or even that is pricked with rust or traces of moisture, we can use soda percarbonate. This whitening powder should not be confused with baking soda which has different properties. To get the best out of it, you can place the stained garment or sheet in a large basin, sprinkle with percarbonate and pour hot water (there is one tablespoon for 2 L of water). The fabric is then allowed to soak overnight before rinsing it with clean water and then passing it to the washing machine.

Using white vinegar for immaculate linen
Among its many virtues, white vinegar can also help maintain white linen. It can be used as a fabric softener on a daily basis for all textile colors. But it is particularly effective at maintaining a bright white. Simply pour it into the rinse compartment with each wash. The slightly acidic smell will go away very soon after the clean laundry has been ventilated. To optimize the result, it is better to detach a garment before putting it in the wash. And again, you can use a cloth soaked in white vinegar to press on the area before passing the garment in the machine.

Apply lemon juice for a whiter cloth
Thanks to its acidity, lemon is an ally against yellow stains on white linen. It is also effective against sweat spots. To benefit from these benefits, you can either squeeze the pulp of a fresh lemon on the halos and then pass everything in the machine, or pour a cup of fruit juice directly into the drum. Last method, place lemon slices in an underwear net to place with the laundry.
The real Marseille soap to reveal the whiteness of the laundry
Here again, the properties of real Marseille soap were well known to our grandmothers. In pre-washing by hand, you can soap the clothes to be treated and leave them on for a few hours before washing them in the machine. You can also prepare homemade laundry with soap shavings, soda crystals and water for daily use. Be careful, however, to use a real soap that does not contain glycerin but 72% vegetable oils at least to be effective.
Sprinkling soda crystals: the solution for white laundry
To restore shine to a white garment that has grayed, we can resort to the power of soda crystals. More basic than the pH of bicarbonate, they are more effective but also more irritating. It is therefore recommended to use gloves to protect the skin. To process the laundry, it is enough to pour half a cup (125 ml) of crystals into the drum of the machine and do laundry normally. In addition to whitening laundry, this powerful powder will remove limescale from household appliances.
A cold milk bath to improve the whiteness of the laundry
Surprisingly, milk can also be used for laundry care. To be effective, it must be very cold. So, 250 ml of milk is poured into a basin with half a liter of water and six to eight ice cubes. The laundry to be bleached is immersed in this bath for at least an hour before washing it in the machine and bringing it out as bright as if it were new.
