Phase 3 of the Neufahrn participatory budget was new: For the first time, the municipal council decided which of the proposals would be accepted before the vote by the citizens.
Neufahrn - And something else was new: Participatory budgeting will take place every two years from 2023, and the budget has been increased to a total of 100,000 euros.
80 ideas were originally received by the administration
It started on January 30, 2023 with the proposal phase (phase 1). By 12 March 2023, 80 proposals had been received from citizens. From 13 March to 14 April, the proposals were examined by the specialist departments of the administration for their feasibility and costs (phase 2). Result: Of the proposals submitted, 36 proposals met the formal criteria after examination by the administration, thematically identical proposals were combined, so that 34 proposals were put to the vote on Monday – and were accepted as such.
From bird nesting boxes in green spaces to solar street lights
This ranged from relatively "small" measures in the low four-digit range such as 20 bird nesting boxes in green spaces for an estimated 1500 euros to "large" projects such as solar street lamps in Wilhelm-Röntgen-Straße for 23,000 euros. An issue especially among young people: the renovation of the skate park at the Galgenbach pond for an estimated 22,000 euros.

Now that the Neufahrn municipal council has accepted these 34 proposals, the ideas will be evaluated by the citizens in phase 4 and then voted on the proposals in phase 5. At the municipal council meeting in September, the council will then vote on the top 10 proposals – always keeping an eye on the budget of 100,000 euros as the upper limit.
