Texas authorities have jailed an 18-year-old boy on murder charges potentially punishable by death for fatally shooting his parents, sister and brother.

Police in Nash, East Texas, said their officers responded Tuesday to the complaint that a man had harmed his family and threatened to kill himself and found Cesar Olalde barricaded inside a home. Officers were informed that several people were dead inside.

Olalde later called police, saying he "had pulled the trigger and shot his family," according to a probable cause affidavit filed by police officer Craig Buster.

The agents convinced Olalde to surrender and found the bodies of his parents, Reuben Olalde and Aida García; his older sister Lisbet Olalde and younger brother Oliver Olalde in a bathroom. The mother was "shot repeatedly," KSLA reported.

"It appeared that the victims had been shot at various locations in the residence and drugged in the bathroom," according to the affidavit. "Multiple worn shell casings" were found on the floor of the house and "blood splatters on multiple surfaces."

According to the affidavit, a co-worker of Lisbet Olalde had gone to the house because the woman had not arrived at work and, together with a relative, forced the entrance, where he met César Olalde, who pointed a firearm at him.

The co-worker told police that Olalde told him "that he had killed his family because they were cannibals, and that they were going to eat him," according to the affidavit.

Bowie County court records show Olalde was held on $10 million bail. His attorney did not immediately return a request for comment Thursday.
