Highlights: Firefighters in Munich try to rescue a cat from the roof of a house. The tabby cat makes itself comfortable on the ridge of the roof for a whole day. The cat then jumps of his own accord to the firefighter in the basket of the ladder, and then jumped down from the ladder on his own. The owner and the cat are reunited and the firefighters can move away again. (Symbolic image) Karl-Josef Hildenbrand (Symbolic image) ©.

Actually, the fire brigade just wants to help a cat. But she doesn't understand all the fuss. She comes down from the roof of the house herself; there is no need for a fire brigade call.

Munich – Cats have a mind of their own. A special operation by the Munich Fire Department on Wednesday (25 May), in which a cat leads the emergency services around by the nose, has shown this once again. For a whole day, the tabby pet of a Munich family makes itself comfortable on the ridge of the roof. The owners eventually got worried and called the fire department. In the rescue attempt, it fulfills all the usual clichés, writes the fire brigade in a press release.

Firefighters want to rescue a cat from the roof of a house – but they know how to help themselves

From the basket of the turntable ladder, a firefighter wanted to rescue the animal from the roof of the house. However, the cat was anything but thrilled and fled to the opposite side of the roof, according to the Munich Fire Department. The emergency services were looking for a position for the turntable ladder and a new rescue attempt was launched.

"Visibly annoyed", the house cat then jumped of his own accord to the firefighter in the basket of the ladder, showed his rescuer the cold shoulder, and then jumped down from the ladder on his own, the Munich fire brigade continued.

Having arrived safely at the bottom and almost without help – she would certainly have been able to do that all by herself – the owner and the cat are reunited. The firefighters can move away again.
