Geretsried – In order to welcome life in general, a small maypole was set up on the daycare grounds of the Buntstifte in Geretsried, around which the little ones danced.

True to the festival motto of the Kita crayons, the little ones celebrated a cultural festival that began with a dance in traditional costume around the maypole. The children hoped that this would finally awaken their dance to spring.

"Mogst du mi, mog i di." This was the motto at the May celebration of the Caritas Kita Buntstifte, where all crèche, kindergarten and after-school children with their parents and siblings recently gathered on the outdoor area to set up the maypole. The children also performed a dance around the maypole, where they danced their way directly into the hearts of all visitors." This year, we wanted to welcome the awakening of spring as well as life in general," emphasized Daniela Biedermann, head of the daycare center.

In the run-up to the event, the after-school children lent a hand themselves and painted a small maypole, which was provided with individual wooden panels, symbolic of each daycare group. In addition to the May Dance as a highlight, there were various hands-on activities for everyone afterwards, such as a rubber boot throw, pretzel fishing and mass jug lifting.

Cultural festival promotes diversity

But it was not only Bavarian culture that was the focus of the May Festival. True to the motto "Festival of Cultures", some visitors also appeared in their respective national costumes. "After all, traditional costume is not only a tradition, but also a sign of diversity," Biedermann explained. "The aim is to show the children that diversity is good and connects." With this in mind, the children's bar also offered colourful non-alcoholic May cocktails, which the after-school children had created especially for the festival. True to the motto: "Colorful is good for you".
