Peiting/Schongau – A departure was recorded in the security guard, which is on patrol in Peiting. Three adults are still regularly on duty, including local councillor Peter Gast, who used to work for the criminal investigation department. In addition, there are people who are on the road in both Peiting and Schongau.
Maximilian Stemmler, who is a service group leader at the Schongau police station and has been coordinator for the security guard for nine months, gave a report to the municipal council. In doing so, he pointed out that there would be "a merger of the two areas of operation", which means Schongau and Peiting.
In figures, it looked like there were 103 hours of deployment of the security guard at hotspots in the market town last year. In 2021, it was 232 hours. The numbers of women and men who are out and about in Schongau and Peiting must be added to this.
Focal points where employees of the security guard are present are the main square, the Peiting-Nord train stop, the Peiting-Ost train station, the Schloßberghalle, the square at the fire brigade and the building yard together with the neighbouring sports facility, the ice stadium, the wave pool, the middle school, the youth centre as well as the Gumpen-Weiher and the area at the cemetery near Maria Egg.
At the time of the corona pandemic, events had shifted more to the periphery, the police officer looked back in front of the local councillors. In the meantime, this can be seen again more within the village. Stemmler explained this when asked by Claudia Steindorf, who recalled that there was "sometimes stress" at the memorial chapel at the top of Calvary. But the situation has improved there – as well as on the square at the fire station, the coordinator added.
As far as the cases are concerned, the security guard intervened in the event of garbage deposits. Once, she said, she came across "a confused and rather drunken person" who had to be taken to the hospital. In another case, a backpack with narcotics was found. The owner had fled.
