Small and very annoying: Ants are not only a nuisance in the house and garden, the insects can also cause damage in the raised bed. Increased watering is the solution.
Ants in the lawn are annoying, but they can be put to flight with five tips. In the raised bed it is a little more complicated, because if they fight the insects where they grow vegetables or herbs at the same time, home remedies can damage their crop.

Loose soil, enough food and a hiding place from enemies make the raised bed particularly attractive for ants. But where vegetables are grown, the small animals are particularly annoying, because with their tunnels they expose roots and act as additional drainage. As a consequence, the vegetables dry up. But with a simple trick, the ants can be driven out of the raised bed.
- Flood raised bed: As Mein schöner Garten reports, you can drive ants out of the raised bed with a powerful stream of water. However, this method is only advisable for plants that can tolerate enough water. Used twice a day, the animals will quickly look for a drier retreat.
- Under no circumstances should you use ant remedies in the raised bed, because you do not want to consume any chemicals in the vegetables later.
- Another option is to locate the ant path and place a bait there, far enough away from the raised bed.
