Highlights: Angela Kelly, Queen Elizabeth's confidant, friend and stylist, is no longer wanted. She loses her home and garden at Windsor Castle. Charles III no longer wants her around him. It was the Queen's wish that Angela should keep her house on the Windsor estate. London – Britain's Queen Elizabeth II (96, † 2022) also needed a girlfriend. After more than 25 years at the Queen's side, stylist Angela Kelly (65) and the regent of the century were so close that the monarch's wardrobe wore new shoes for the Queen, did her hair and massaged her feet. In return, the British head created the title of "Her Majesty's Personal Assistant, Advisor and Curator" for her former right-hand man, allowing only her confidante to write a series of books about their relationship, which she was allowed to market profitably. But under King Charles III (74), Kelly lost her special position.

Angela Kelly's influence on Queen Elizabeth II was apparently feared

All the more reason for it to be a wise decision by the Queen to create a financial cushion for Kelly during her lifetime. Because since the regent died, a different wind has been blowing over the castle. Many in the palace were suspicious of Kelly, others also thought jealousy was possible – but regardless of this, the influence of the Queen's confidants on the Queen was apparently feared. Last year, Dailymail revealed that a few days after the monarch's death in September, the locks of Kelly's apartments were replaced, denying her access to the palace.

Angela processed this in an Instagram Story: "I'm too old to care who likes me and who doesn't like me! I have more important things to do!" she shared defiantly. It was the Queen's wish that Angela should keep her house on the Windsor estate. Charles III is not a monster, and respected the wishes of his mother, yet he wants to slim down the monarchy and has no use for Kelly, who is also in the prime of retirement. And so Charles III involuntarily becomes the evil stepmother in the fairy tale and pushes Angela away.

Does Charles III muzzle Angela Kelly?

It is said that Charles bought the property on the condition that Angela could live there for the rest of her life, after which it would revert to the crown. This also ensures that Angela Kelly cannot talk about her friendship with his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. But there are rumours that the Queen gave Kelly permission for another book before her death, which she hoped would sweeten her pension and compensate for years of loyal service.

However, a confidentiality agreement must be signed by all moving employees, which is at least not an indication of purchased secrecy.

Only reluctantly does she leave her home by the river. The king has given her a new house to fulfill his late mother's promise. But at the age of 60, losing her girlfriend, her job, her reputation and her usual life and then having to leave her beloved home behind is certainly not easy for a loyal soul like Kelly. Anyone who has seen the pictures of the elderly lady putting her belongings piece by piece into a white moving van in her garden and can hardly hold back her tears must be made of stone not to feel sorry for her.

Just a few weeks ago, she posted a picture of her garden telling her friends, "I'm getting ready to say goodbye. I'm finally moving into my new home, which I can finally call My Home." Purposeful optimism, what is left for her. After all, she replied to a friend: "I'm moving to the Peak District, a little further away than Sheffield, so not too far away from the family." It is to be hoped that she will be welcomed there with open arms. Because she has been through a lot with the royals.
