Who murdered Domenico Lorusso? There has been no answer to this question for ten years. The Isarmord continues to move people. New investigations are ongoing.

The young man waves cheerfully at the camera. With his peaked cap and backpack, he looks as if he wants to start a hike in the sun. But Domenico Lorusso - the man in the photo - is no longer going anywhere. On May 28, 2013, the Italian was stabbed to death in the middle of Munich. From a stranger, completely abruptly, completely arbitrarily. The crime, which celebrates its tenth anniversary on Sunday, became known throughout Germany as "Isarmord" - and there is still no trace of the murderer. That's why a poster is being put up at the scene of the crime today. "Who murdered me here?" is written on the three-by-two-meter area that Domenico shows waving so cheerfully. According to the Munich police, the family of the murdered man chose the photo themselves. With the eye-catching campaign, the Presidium hopes to get the decisive clue in this mysterious case.

The Italian died on 28 May 2013 on the cycle path on Erhardtstraße

Domenico Lorusso was 31 years old when he died on May 28, 2013. That evening, he meets up with his fiancée at Gärtnerplatz to cycle together to their apartment in Haidhausen. The couple is full of joy: the next day they wanted to tell the family in Italy about the engagement. Plans that are abruptly destroyed on the cycle path on Erhardtstraße.
There, on that fateful Tuesday ten years ago, a man stands under the trees. When the couple drives past him at 22 p.m., he spits at the fiancée. The fact that Domenico turns back to confront the man proves to be a bitter mistake: the stranger pulls out a knife and stabs him in the heart. His fiancée sees him fall to the ground about 50 meters away. She still screams "Go away" to the stranger - without knowing that he has just destroyed her life. The stabber calmly moves away in the direction of Cornelius Bridge, Domenico dies in hospital. The fact: A shock for the whole family, as brother Paolo Lorusso described to tz. "I can't stand his killer walking free," he said on the first anniversary of the crime. In the meantime, nine more years have passed without the perpetrator being caught. And this despite the fact that the murderer injured himself and the police have his DNA.

Comparison with the DNA databases in Europe

The Soko Cornelius, which initially leads the investigation, includes 30 officers. They evaluate the data of 64,000 mobile phones that were locked into the radio cell at the crime scene. 7500 mobile phone owners are checked. There are 1000 clues from the population. 5800 saliva samples are taken to obtain comparison DNA. None of this brings success.
In the meantime, up to five investigators are still involved in the case. Last year, there was a kind of revision in which the files were rolled over again. According to Mathias Heidtmann, deputy head of the homicide squad, 30 clues and starting points have emerged, which will be investigated again. In addition, the comparison with DNA banks in other European countries is ongoing. The hope that there will be one hit remains.
