There will be a new trial for the death of young Yanis. The Assize Court of Val-d'Oise had found guilty of murder Alphonse G. (nicknamed Capone), Tuesday, May 16 after three days of hearing. He was sentenced to thirty years' rigorous imprisonment and a twenty-year probation period. He decided to appeal the sentence. The other accused, Mamadou N. (who calls himself PA), suspected of complicity in murder was acquitted by the court. The Attorney General's Office appealed this decision.

The facts occurred on April 17, 2013, in a shisha in Pierrelaye, of which Yanis, 23, from Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône, was the manager. Both accused were regulars at the facility and had a good relationship with the victim. In the afternoon, a fight had taken place between Mamadou N. and Ahmed A. Mamadou N. had the upper hand. While youths had separated them, Ahmed A.'s brother-in-law had taken the opportunity to hit Mamadou N. in the face.

According to him, "the pistol shot would have gone by itself"

A few hours later, Mamadou N. and his friend Alphonse G. returned to the scene, the second carrying of an automatic pistol. Alphonse G. had immediately attacked the young people who had intervened, reproaching them for having meddled in what did not concern them. While he had hit one of them, Yanis intervened. Alphonse G. confessed to the court that he had hit him. He then allegedly tried to hit her with his pistol with his rifle and the shot went off on its own, according to testimony he gave at trial. The court found that he had deliberately shot Yanis in the head. Several witnesses said Yanis was on the ground at the time. It is now up to the Assize Court of Appeal to determine what happened.
