The rules of the Highway Code reminded to Lyon cyclists

"Share the street? Not so hard!". This is the name of the small guide of good practices for the sharing of public space between the different modes of transport that will be given to cyclists this Friday, as part of the awareness day called "Share the street". While spring pushes many wheels - more or less seasoned - on the tracks, the booklets will be distributed in three strategic points of the city of Lyon to people traveling by bike between 7:30 and 9:30. The opportunity for cyclists circulating on the Quai Augagneur, the Raymond Barre Bridge and the Cours Albert Thomas, three particularly used axes, to set foot on land and evoke respect for the Highway Code.

"This event is mainly aimed at people who go to work or who circulate by bike, especially during rush hour in order to raise awareness of the notions of sharing public road space and, in particular, issues related to the safety of all users, pedestrians in particular," says the metropolis. A stand of the Mobility Agency will be set up on the Raymond Barre bridge and a TCL bus to raise cyclists' awareness of blind spots will be set up at the intersection of Quai Augagneur and Pont Lafayette.

All in the presence of several elected officials, including Fabien Bagnon (EELV), vice-president in charge of active mobility at the metropolis and member of Sytral, as well as the deputy mayor of Lyon in charge of security, Mohamed Chihi (EELV). "We live in a period where the sharing of public space is sometimes complicated between pedestrians, scooter users, cyclistsand motorists, say the elected officials. Today, through this awareness-raising action aimed at cyclists, the City of Lyon, the Métropole de Lyon and Sytral Mobilités are committed to reminding them of the essential respect for the Highway Code, of course, but also respect for other users, especially pedestrians who are the most vulnerable users.
