Counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army: 28th mechanized brigade
The 28th Mechanized Brigade was originally stationed in the Black Sea port of Odessa to prevent a possible amphibious assault on the city of almost one million inhabitants when the Russian invasion began. Instead, according to the Kyiv Post, the brigade fought for Kherson and finally stopped the Russian advance in the spring of 2022 near Mykolaiv, where it is still fighting today.
According to the report, the brigade commander was killed in fighting in July. Nevertheless, according to the Kyiv Post, the 28th should play a central role in the expected counteroffensive in the south in the direction of Zaporizhzhia because of its experience. Or is it already advancing? In recent days, for example, more explosions have been reported near Tokmak in the south of the Zaporizhzhia region.
Counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army: 82nd Airborne Assault Brigade
The Kyiv Post cites the recently leaked Pentagon documents that the 82nd Airborne Assault Brigade is "the strongest single formation likely to be involved in the offensive." According to the leaked US documents, the Ukrainian command plans to unite about half of its NATO-supplied infantry fighting vehicles in this brigade, the newspaper writes.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky officially announced the creation of his own Marine Corps, similar to the one in the United States.
