Andy Borg has never been a guest on the "Giovanni Zarrella Show" before. The Schlager veteran has an exciting explanation for his absence.
Passau/Dortmund – With the "Giovanni Zarrella Show", ZDF has a real crowd puller at the start several times a year. Millions of viewers gather in front of their television sets when host Giovanni Zarrella (45) welcomes top-class names from both the domestic and international music scene. With all the big stars who have rocked the stage in recent years, one has always been missing: Andy Borg (62).
He was absent from every "Giovanni Zarrella Show": Andy Borg has never been a guest in ZDF's successful format
ZDF has already had two successful editions of the "Giovanni Zarrella Show" this year (on 25 February and 22 April) and the next live spectacle is scheduled for 22 July. Although there is not yet a guest list for the event in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle, as schlagerfieber.de theorized, Oli P. (44) and Sonia Liebing (33), among others, could pay a visit to the show to present their new albums, which will be released the day before.
Both were also guests of Giovanni Zarrella in April - but fans have been waiting in vain for one pop star in particular since the first show on September 11, 2021. Andy Borg and Giovanni Zarrella know each other and seem to get along brilliantly and have often been on stage together, but the "Adios Amor" interpreter has not yet been able to set up a performance in the successful format of his colleague.
Did you know? Andy Borg's name isn't Andy Borg
Andy Borg's real name is actually Adolf Andreas Meyer. However, one can imagine that as an Austrian after 1945 it is not exactly an advantage to be called Adolf – that's why he first appeared as Adi Meyer. Since his big breakthrough with "Adios Amor" in 1982, he has been known as Andy Borg.
"Scheduling problems": Andy Borg had to cancel at "Giovanni Zarrella Show"
As Andy Borg explains in an interview with smago.de, there is a very simple reason for his repeated absence from the "Giovanni Zarrella Show" – he was busy elsewhere and had to cancel. "Giovanni and ZDF have already inquired," he reveals, "these were scheduling problems on my part because I couldn't. Because for me, performances take precedence, what's promised is promised." Florian Silbereisen (41) and Carmen Nebel (66) have also had to be rebuffed by the native Austrian – certainly much to the chagrin of the two TV veterans.
So far, Andy Borg has never been a guest on the "Giovanni Zarrella Show". The reason for this is that the Schlager veteran would never cancel a performance. © IMAGO/Future Image (photomontage)

My Area
The fact that Andy Borg misses an opportunity such as an appearance on the "Giovanni Zarrella Show" in order to keep his concert dates is very honorable – but who knows, maybe he will finally get involved in the ZDF hit show on July 22nd. He could definitely have the time for that, because his "Schlager fun" will not flicker across the screens again until July 29th. Meanwhile, on June 3, Andy Borg, Barbara Schöneberger and Hans Sigl are engaged in an unnecessary ratings war on ARD. Sources used:smago.de, schlagerfieber.de
