The London Symphony Chorus announced the appointment of Mariana Rosas to the position of choir director, effective August 1.
Rosas will move into her new role as associate choir director, replacing Simon Halsey, her former teacher.

A brilliant career
Rosas moved to the UK in 2018 from Argentina, where she had been an assistant professor of choral practice at the National University of the Arts in Buenos Aires and was working as a guest conductor in Denmark, Canada, Italy and Switzerland.
A graduate of the University of Birmingham's MA programme in choral conducting, Rosas will take on the responsibilities of her new role with the Choir alongside her new role as principal at the University of Birmingham and her teaching role in the University's Department of Music.
"I am delighted to take on the role of Choir Director of the London Symphony Chorus. Having moved to the UK to read the MA in Choral Conducting at the University of Birmingham and studying with Simon Halsey, it is now an honour to be named as his successor. I am grateful for the support the University has given me as a student and alumna, and I look forward to continuing to work with students in the years to come," Rosas said of the appointment.
The London Symphony Choir will have an Argentine conductor, Mariana Rosas, who will take office from August 1 of this year.
In addition to her new role, Rosas will continue to hold positions with the London Youth Choir, Birmingham City Council and the regional singing project, Warwick – A Singing Town.

The London Symphony Chorus is a world-class symphonic choir, based at the Barbican Centre in London. Originally created to complement the work of the London Symphony Orchestra, today its vibrant choir is comprised of 160 amateur choral singers who partner with top conductors, orchestras and soloists from around the world.
