The Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull), leader of the championship and who aspires to win a third title in a row, was the fastest this Friday in the day of free practice for the Monaco Grand Prix, the sixth of the Formula One World Championship, which takes place at the Monte Carlo street circuit; followed by the local Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and where the Spaniards Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) signed the third and fourth half, respectively.

In the best of the 30 laps he gave in the second practice -in which everyone marked their fastest laps of the day, with the soft tyre and in which the Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) signed the seventh time-, Verstappen covered the 3,337 meters of the track of the streets of the principality of the Côte d'Azur in one minute, twelve seconds and 462 thousandths, only 65 less than the Monegasque Leclerc.

In a session that Sainz, who scored the third -107 thousandths of his first teammate in F1 (in 2015 and with Toro Rosso, current Alpha Tauri)-, ended early; by losing control of his car in the pool area, causing -in the absence of 17- an interruption, with red flag, about five minutes.

Sainz – who completed 22 laps in the afternoon session – suffered no physical consequences, but damaged the right side of his Ferrari, which crashed in the sixteenth of the 19 corners of the legendary Monegasque track: in the same area that his teammate Leclerc suffered the same mishap in 2021.

Alonso was registered fourth in the time table. The double Asturian world champion, third in the contest, 44 points behind 'Mad Max', was two tenths of the Dutchman in a training session in which he did 31 laps.

'Checo', second in the World Championship, fourteen points from the 119 with which he leads his teammate, marked the seventh time of the day, which he signed in the second session, in which he repeated 29 times the layout to the circuit that hosts the most iconic race on the calendar.

The brave driver from Tapatío, who wants to repeat his victory last year on the streets of Monte Carlo, was 529 thousandths behind the Dutchman.
