There are big plans for Königsdorf: A ground-mounted PV system is to be built on the Mooseurach estate. Now the project partners have presented their concept.
Königsdorf – It is to become the largest ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) system in the region to date – and will be located on Königsdorf soil. The municipality itself would like to actively participate in the solar park. In a press conference in the town hall, the project partners – the municipality, Gut Mooseurach, 17er Oberlandenergiewende GmbH and Energie Südbayern GmbH – presented their concept to the public.
Ground-mounted PV system for Königsdorf: Solar modules generate 20,000 megawatt hours per year
The ground-mounted PV system is to be built on an area of around 20 hectares of the estate. Most of this is moorland. The solar modules there would generate 20,000 megawatt hours per year. This is more than 2.5 times the current electricity consumption in Königsdorf.
"This would make the community two to three times self-sufficient," reports Thomas Feistl, head of 17er-Oberlandenergie. In addition to the construction of the ground-mounted PV system, the moor is to be renaturalized. The electricity generated and the drained moor could save 8000 tons of CO2 per year. "This is how we kill two birds with one stone," says Adolf Hornsteiner, Sales and Trading Officer at Energie Südbayern.

The owners of the estate had also already dealt with the topic of PV systems in previous years. The combination of solar systems and renaturation "ultimately convinced" the family, reports farm manager Andreas Schmidt. The advantage of the location for the Königsdorf-based company: "The area is almost not visible from any location," says Feistl. The nearest residential building is 800 meters as the crow flies. "We don't want to put this plant in the middle of the landscape for the people of Königsdorf."
In December last year, the business partners presented the project to the municipal council in a non-public meeting. Next Tuesday, the committee will deal with the preparation of the development plan. "We are confident that the next step for our project will be taken there," Hornsteiner says confidently. If everything goes as planned, the solar park could go into operation in spring 2025. The large-scale project is expected to cost around 16 million euros. "These costs will be financed by the company from a mixture of debt and equity," explains Feistl.
Solar park planned for Königsdorf: There should be citizen participation
However, before this can happen, the project partners must form an operating company in a timely manner. Directly in Königsdorf. "This also makes economic sense for us," added Deputy Mayor Sebastian Seidl. Citizen participation in the ground-mounted PV system is "particularly important" to all four parties.

There are various ways to do this. Feistl cited a "very successful project" in Greilling as an example. Here, citizens could participate in the plant with a sum of money and earn six percent interest per year. Different alternatives are also available for marketing the electricity: For example, it is possible to supply the electricity directly to households in Königsdorf, for example, or to feed it into the power grid.
On another point, on the other hand, the project partners already have a very concrete idea and precautions: In order to feed the generated energy into the public power grid, "we already have the assurance that we will be allowed to use the transformer from the operator Bayernwerk on Jeschkenstraße in Geretsried," says Hornsteiner. It's a long way from planning to completion, says Seidl, "but I think we're on the right track."

At the Königsdorf municipal council meeting on Tuesday, May 30 (19 p.m.), one of the topics will be the application by Energie Südbayern GmbH, Energy Heros and Solea AG to draw up the development plan for the "Mooseurach Solar Park Special Area".
