A Russian missile landed in a Polish forest near the Ukrainian border - with a concrete warhead. In Poland, this causes ridicule.

Munich – In the Ukraine war, Russia is also relying on the use of missiles. For months, the Ukrainian air defense has had to fend off thousands of missiles from Russia. Again and again, cities that are not directly on the front line are hit. Lviv, a city in western Ukraine right on the border with Poland, is also repeatedly under fire.

In one such attack, a rocket had already mistakenly landed in a forest in Poland in December 2022. The rocket debris was found in April in the forest near the city of Bydgoszcz. Now the Polish presidential office announced that the warbody belonging to the missile had also appeared, as reported by the news portal t-online.de.

Russia's missiles in the Ukraine war: warhead does not contain explosives

According to the Polish government spokesman, the warhead did not contain any explosives. "It's pretty special because it's made of concrete," Pawel Szrot, head of President Andrzej Duda's cabinet, said in a show on Rmf.fm radio. So someone put this cutting-edge product of Russian technology there."

It is possible that the concrete warhead was only used by the Russian military to confuse Ukrainian air defenses. The missile found, a CH-55, is a Russian invention from the 70s, which was originally intended to be equipped with nuclear warheads. With a length of six meters, the rocket reaches a range of about 3000 kilometers, the Berliner Zeitung reports.

Russian missile lands in Poland: NATO state launches investigation

After the missile strike, the NATO state of Poland immediately began its investigations into the course of events. To this end, the country also requested support from the US intelligence service.

In an interview with radio station Rmf.fm, Head of Cabinet Pawel Szrot praised the Polish president: "This whole difficult situation shows how important the role of the president is in our constitutional system. He has sided with Polish security interests." In his opinion, Ukraine "needs support to protect its freedom, sovereignty and independence," the radio station reports.

Just recently, Russia announced that it was allegedly developing an unstoppable submarine missile: it should be able to overcome all missile defense systems.
