Highlights: The police of Middle Franconia recently went looking for a job. This was met with some sharp criticism from users on Twitter. Some celebrate the tweet for its creativity, others find it tasteless. Still others find the choice of words difficult in view of the fact that people die from time to time during police operations nationwide. With a job advertisement of the somewhat more curious kind, the police of Middle Franconia recently made a name for themselves. However, the intention is clear.

Nuremberg – Personnel problems currently prevail in many corners and ends in Bavaria. There is a lack of educators, nurses – and apparently also of police officers. At least one seems to be willing in Middle Franconia to go with rather unusual job advertisements to catch applicants.

"Murder is your hobby": harmless series allusion – or tasteless?

On Twitter, the social media account of the Middle Franconian police wrote: "#Mord is your hobby, and you want to make it your profession? Then this job advertisement in the office service at #Kriminalpolizei might be something for you".

Probably an allusion to the well-known TV series "Murder is her hobby" from the 80s, in which an elderly author solves criminal cases. The intention of the tweet is also clear in the second part of the sentence, and the question to the reader as to whether one wants to make murder a profession could also be misunderstood.

"That's real": Not all users find the tender successful

On Twitter, the reactions to the unusually worded job advertisement of the Middle Franconian police are mostly critical. Some celebrate the tweet for its creativity, others find it tasteless and still others find it embarrassing.

"Oh you shit, that's real. Thought this was an elhotzo post. You can't be serious," wrote one user, for example, alluding to the now well-known, satirical tweets of user "elhotzo", who was already making fun of the bear situation in Bavaria. Another user noted, "Extremely insensitive! Or is it intentional?" Users often find the choice of words difficult in view of the fact that people die from time to time during police operations nationwide. At least one thing is likely to have been achieved by the Middle Franconian police with the job advertisement: it has generated attention. (FHZ)
