"No longer the FC Bayern of the past": Fans from the district disappointed with the club's board of directors

Highlights: FC Bayern fans in Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen are preparing for a season without winning the title. They are strongly critical of the board and blame Bayern bosses Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic for the botched season. The most recent game against Leipzig – Bayern lost 1-3 – showed that Bayern had little to oppose their opponents. "The thing ran 99 percent of the time," says Andreas Rammler, mayor of the municipality of Sachsenkam and head of the Bavaria Oberland fan club.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – The Bundesliga table is an unusual sight. Ahead of the last matchday this weekend, it is not the usually dominant FC Bayern Munich, but Borussia Dortmund who are in first place in the table. Bayern are thus threatened with their first titleless season since 2012, and Bayern fans in the district are accordingly not very optimistic about the season finale.

Hias Hammerl with no hope of winning the championship title

Hias Hammerl (79), for example, has already buried hopes of winning the championship title. "We're two points behind and I can't imagine Dortmund losing," said the die-hard Bayern fan from Ried. He blames Bayern bosses Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic for the botched season. "I've never experienced so much stupidity," says Hammerl – a member of the club for around 50 years – with a view to the dismissal of Julian Nagelsmann. There was also speculation about the team line-up and bad purchases of players. Hammerl is certain: "There will be another big noise."

Harald Michel (54), on the other hand, still believes in a title miracle. "Anything is possible in football," said the chairman of the Geretsried FCB fan club "Die Filetgranen". So there is still a glimmer of hope. However, his club did not really deserve the championship trophy. "The preliminary round was strong, but the second half of the season wasn't what you expect from FC Bayern in terms of level," said Michel.

"I have never experienced so much stupidity"

Maybe that's why it's not bad at all if another club wins the title this year. Of course, that's a little sad, according to the "Filetgranen" boss, but from a sporting point of view this is positive. Not only to bring a little more excitement back into the Bundesliga, but also to be able to look forward to the championship title again. "In the end, it was only registered because it had become a habit."

The club made the mistake of not replacing Lewandowski after his departure. "And it doesn't work without a central centre-forward who scores the goals," said the chairman of the fan club. In addition, the Bayern leadership had repeatedly brought unrest to the club during the season, for example through the "unfortunate dismissal of the coach". Michel: "It's no longer the FC Bayern of the past." He therefore expects a thorough reappraisal of the season from everyone involved. Everyone has to critically question themselves and their decisions. "There can be no 'business as usual'," Michel is convinced.

Michael Schmid (48), chairman of the fan club "d'Münsinger", would also consider a title win after this season to be undeserved. The most recent game against Leipzig – Bayern lost 1-3 – showed that Bayern had little to oppose their opponents. "You're just not used to that from FC Bayern." He now sees those responsible at the management level as having a duty. "If FC Bayern's ambition is to always win three titles, then you have to question everything after this season," says Schmid.

"The thing ran 99 percent of the time," says Andreas Rammler (45), mayor of the municipality of Sachsenkam and head of the Bavaria Oberland fan club. Although there have already been match days on which the impossible has been made possible, everything would have to fit together this Saturday. Which is rather unlikely in view of the home defeat against RB Leipzig. "In the first half, I still had legitimate hopes," said Rammler, who watched the game live in the stadium. "After the 1-1 draw, however, the team, as so often before, simply couldn't hold out against it." The result is symptomatic of the season. "The confidence in the team has been cracked a bit," admits the Bayern fan.

Andreas Rammler: "Realistically modest chances"

But Rammler doesn't want to give up hope of winning the title altogether – despite the "realistically modest chances", as he says. "Only when the 90 minutes have elapsed and the result is known in black and white." But he could also live with it if another club wins the championship this year. More important to him than the title is that Bayern "bring the season to a decent end" with a win in Cologne.

In the past, the team played best and most stable under pressure. This self-evident fact has been lost this season, according to Rammler. "It's not because of the individual talent of the players," he says. Rather, it's because one or the other is understandably too full after the championships they have already won. "With a few hungry players, things look completely different," Rammler is convinced. That's why it's now important to look ahead and focus on the coming season. (fs)
