"The big weather change is here": Heat start in Bavaria – with two exceptions

The wait for summer comes to an end over Pentecost: Just in time for the turn of the month, it gets hot and dry in Bavaria. With two small exceptions.

Munich – Although with isolated thunderstorms during the week, but with longer and warmer hours of sunshine, it was slowly clear in Bavaria where the weather journey was going now. Summer was the keyword – its meteorological start is on Thursday, 1 June. And until then, the hot season is already warming up.

Heat days in Bavaria are imminent - but there is a drop of bitterness

According to meteorologist Dominik Jung, who takes a look at the coming days in the latest wetternet video on YouTube, almost all of Bavaria can look forward to warm and dry days on the Whitsun weekend. "The big weather change is here," says the title of the video – and the outlook for the coming days is correspondingly rosy.

According to Jung, there will already be 26 degrees in Bavaria on Friday, May 25. On Saturday, May 27, it will also go in this direction, although it could be a little warmer in the north around Nuremberg than in the south around Munich. This is also the case on Sunday, May 28 – 25 degrees in the north of the Free State, 22 in the south. These temperatures will then remain during the week until the Thursday mentioned.

Weather in Bavaria on the first weekend in June – and the two exceptions

On the first weekend in June, temperatures will also scratch the 30-degree mark, and it is expected to remain hot throughout Sunday, June 4. But then the first exception to the otherwise exclusively sunny start to summer – on Monday, June 5, and Tuesday, June 6, it will be more changeable with "summer warmth," explains Jung. This means, among other things, individual "showers and thunderstorms" that can pass over the southwest and south of Germany in the afternoon, according to wetternet.

And there is one exception to the otherwise sunny outlook: When looking at the rain totals up to 4 June, the wetternet map shows that it is expected to remain dry throughout Germany – only in the Alpine region, according to Jung perhaps even into the foothills of the Alps, also occasionally "showers and thunderstorms possible".

However, the now increasing heat and drought also have the unpleasant side effect that, among other things, the risk of forest fires increases. According to the forest fire danger index of the German Weather Service (DWD), this is already rising, and in northern Bavaria the second highest level has already been reached in some cases.
