A circus festival for the whole town

2023-05-27T10:34:00.403Z

Highlights: From 19 to 22 June, the Wörthsee primary school is organising a circus week. In the evening, a colourful round of events takes place in the circus tent at the town hall. The Wörthsini Circus got the whole place on its feet in 1992. "Everyone who talks about it still gets shining eyes today," says Juliane Seeliger-von Gemmingen, cultural officer of the municipality and second chairwoman of the Skulpturenweg association. The municipality provides water and electricity for the stalls on the site, where food and drinks are served until 22 p.m.

It should be a celebration for all citizens: From 19 to 22 June, the Wörthsee primary school is organising a circus week. In the evening, a colourful round of events takes place in the circus tent at the town hall. And there will even be a specially written play.

Steinebach – A place of encounter, a celebration for everyone: This is what the organizers of the evening events in the circus tent of the elementary school have in mind. Like back in 1992, when the Wörthsini Circus got the whole place on its feet. "Everyone who talks about it still gets shining eyes today," says Juliane Seeliger-von Gemmingen, cultural officer of the municipality and second chairwoman of the Skulpturenweg association. Together with the parents' council of the primary school, he organised three of the four evening events in the circus tent under the title "Art meets Artists".

Who does what

The construction is complicated, because there are many people in the event boat. First of all, there is the primary school, which has booked the Circus Toussini from 19 to 23 June. Every morning, the primary school children get a taste of circus air with artists. For the rest of the time, the circus tent on the large lawn next to the town hall is available for events. This is where the Parents' Council and the Sculpture Trail Association come into play. Therefore, Juliane Seeliger-von Gemmingen for the association, Chairwoman of the Parents' Council Sabine Heiß and project manager Kerstin Weigert sit at the table at the press conference. SC Wörthsee, which has booked the evening event on Wednesday, 21 June, for a "dream trip" will also be there.

The whole program

With a cheerful musical evening, the "Pirates", the primary school brass class and the Wörthsee brass band will open the series of events in the circus tent on Monday, 19 June. The brass band evening entitled "Viva la Vida!" starts at 19 p.m., admission is free. Donations are requested.

On Tuesday, 20 June, art and acrobatics in words, music and movement are on the programme. Seeliger-von Gemmingen and the parents' council were able to win over the Ammersee bard Jakob Mühleisen, as well as the poetry slammers Jaromir Konecny from Wörthsee, Leni Gwinner from Hechendorf and Anna Münkel from Zankenhausen. The world champion dance kids of the Wörthsee Move-it-Dance-Akademy show a mix of show dance, acrobatics and hip-hop. Last but not least, the Weßlingen rock band "Counterfeit Money" will play. It starts at 19 p.m., admission costs 25 euros, concessions 10 euros.

The sports club has reserved Wednesday evening: "SC Wörthsee invites you to marvel, laugh and dream," is the title of the program. There are no tickets for this event, it is fully booked.

A musical youth theatre with acrobatic interludes awaits the circus guests on Thursday, 22 June. The Theaterkitz-Teens play the play "Der vergessene Herr Blum", a theatrical romance written by Diana Rotzinger from Steinebach. The play tells the story of Mr. Blum, who stands on the shores of Lake Wörthsee in the form of an iron stranger – a sculpture by the artist Johannes Englmeier – and wanders onto the stage for this evening. Peter Guntz from Wörthsee, director of the "Zwiderwurzn", has arranged the music, he is in action with the "Jazz Pistols", and there is also the choir "Haarmonie". The sound is set by Detlef Fliegl, also from Wörthsee. Herrsching's deacon Hans Hermann Weinen organized the lighting system. "We only urgently need a lighting technician for the evening," says Weigert. The entrance fee is 25 euros.

Behind the scenes

"That's a lot of money," Seeliger admits. On the other hand, however, the events are also unique, "that won't happen every year". The artists played for the lowest fees. This is because all costs have to be borne by the primary school and the Skulpturenweg association. The municipality provides water and electricity for the stalls on site, where drinks and fine food are to be served until 22 p.m. in the evening. The sanitary facilities and everything else around it, that's what the organizers take care of. Originally, they had assumed that they would be allowed to fill the circus tent, which holds more than 400 people. From 200 people, however, an event runs under "major event", i.e. a security service is required, for example. The local council rejected this (we reported). The tent will now be rebuilt in the evening so that 199 people feel comfortable there. But now, of course, there is a lack of income.

This has already caused disappointment among the organizers in advance. "That's why we're all the more pleased when people come, everyone meets here and enjoys beautiful evenings," says Seeliger. If you want, you can also just drop by for a meal and a drink. "Back then, the whole town was involved in the Wörthsini Circus," enthuses Seeliger. "Maybe we'll succeed again."

Tickets are now available at the municipal library. In addition, the website skulpturenweg-woerthsee.de contains the entire program and a barcode that can be used to purchase tickets.
