Due to the heavy heat and extreme weather conditions, fires broke out on Saturday in several locations across the country.
A forest fire broke out due to a thorn fire near the Acre junction. The intersection was blocked to traffic from all directions due to thick smoke. Firefighters are working at the scene and have gained control of the fire. Police officers are on the scene directing traffic.
At the same time, JNF teams are dealing with three fire sites in the Toren Forest, the Caruvite Forest and the Karmia Forest. Police are working on the scene to locate hikers and evacuate them from the area, while firefighting efforts continue to gain control of the fire. Police are urging the public to avoid the area, and travelers who are still on the scene are required to stay away from the fire and leave.
In addition, in light of the hot and extreme weather, the police call on the public to exercise caution when it comes to lighting fires in forests and in locations where there is a risk of fire ignition and spread.

Apparently, hikers are in the Karmiya Forest area, which is located near the Gaza envelope. Some hikers abandoned their vehicles that were close to the fire. Two vehicles burned completely and the fire continues to spread and control has not yet been achieved.
Firefighters are on the scene and while extinguishing the fire, searching for hikers and ruling out trapped people. Four planes from the Elad Squadron are assisting in extinguishing the fire, some with extinguishing foam and some with flame retardant in accordance with the requirements of the teams in the field.
