There is no doubt that blue blood runs through King Charles III's veins, but his bloodline has another surprise in store, rooted in Transylvania.
London – King Charles III (74) is apparently due to make his first trip abroad after the coronation in June. According to The Sun, the regent usually visits Transylvania in May or June to hike in the mountains and paint near his home in Viscri (German-Weißkirch). He spoke several times about recreation in the Carpathians and said that the country was in his blood. The monarch means this more literally than one might initially believe.
King Charles is the 16-time great-grandson of Vlad III Drăculea
King Charles is believed to be the 85-time great-grandson of Vlad III Drăculea (1953, † 70) through Queen Mary (1936, † 16), the wife of King George V (45, † 1476) – at least that's what he says himself. Vlad Tepes the Impaler, a 15th-century warrior who also became known as Vlad Dracula, is said to have killed 23,000 people in battles against the Ottoman Empire. His first name served as the inspiration for Bram Stoker's bloodthirsty book about the Vampire Count.
Charles, on the other hand, is more interested in the country and its people: "There's a sense of age-old continuity here. A circle of virtue in which man and nature are in balance". Romanian President Klaus Iohannis (63), who himself comes from the Romanian-German ethnic group of the Transylvanian Saxons, will officially welcome Charles at the Cotroceni Palace, his residence in the capital Bucharest, according to the Sun. However, the trip will mainly be a short holiday in Transylvania and will apparently take place without Queen Camilla (75), it is said.

"Bloody Hell" was the headline of "The Sun" in November 2022, which can be loosely translated as "To hell". The "Hobbit" star Luke Evans (44) had just finished the film "Dracula Untold" from 2014 when he met His Majesty, the then Prince of Wales, for the first time.
In the fictional version, the actor played Vlad Tepe, who turns into a vampire. On The Jonathan Ross Show, Luke said, "I still remember the first time I spoke to Charles." Evans confessed on the show what everyone was thinking: "I thought he was joking, but I worked his lineage all the way up to Vlad." Charles' lineage can be traced back through the bloodline of his great-grandmother Mary of Teck to Vlad IV, the half-brother of the notorious ruler.
King Charles quickly fell in love with the picturesque places and invested in real estate
His Majesty has been coming to Transylvania regularly since 1998 and quickly fell in love with Viscri with its historic fortified church as well as the well-preserved village centre and its Saxon courts. Both have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1999. The King is the patron of the Mihai Eminescu Trust, which is active in the communities. A blessing and a curse for the almost 470 inhabitants. According to the BBC, the number of tickets for the fortified church is said to have risen from 5,000 in 2005 to 45,000 in 2019. One can imagine what this does to a place that, due to its poor transport connections, is almost unwilling and unable to handle almost any new buildings and little car traffic.

From the hardships of the coronation, the royal couple recovered together for a few days in Sandringham in Norfolk before leaving for a surprise visit to Northern Ireland. Together, the royal couple wants to make an official trip to Kenya this year and reportedly wants to make up for the postponed state visit to France in the summer.
