Kaufbeuren – A man in the Allgäu became a permanent guest of the police. He had committed trespassing, coercion, insult and damage to property in the Kaufbeuren area, among other things. He had clashed with the police a total of 56 times between December 2022 and April 2023. The police took him into preventive custody. He unsuccessfully appealed to the Bavarian Supreme Court in Munich.

Security custody for a month: risk of repetition came from the man
The man was taken into custody for a month. The judges confirmed that this decision was admissible in this case, a judicial spokesman said on Wednesday (24 May). The police seized five knives from the man. She had tried to calm the situation by banning, expulsions and addressing threats. The police had also placed the man in a psychiatric hospital. "However, all this could not stop the person concerned from committing further crimes," said a court spokesman.
The Supreme Court considered preventive detention to be an indispensable measure. This is possible for a maximum of one month if a significant administrative offence or further criminal offences cannot be prevented. For the court, a risk of repetition of the man was obvious due to the 56 police incidents.
