The 46-year-old man suspected of killing his wife and two children in Dreux, Eure-et-Loir, was arrested this Saturday morning, announced the prosecutor of Chartres in a statement. He had been wanted for more than 48 hours. He was arrested in Plaisir in the Yvelines by the police "following the call of an employee of a telephone shop," says the prosecutor. He is currently in police custody.
On Thursday, a 36-year-old woman and her two children, aged 13 years and 18 months, were found dead in Dreux. The mother of two was separated from her spouse. The latter had already been sentenced in 2021 to twelve months in prison, including four months probation, for violence against his ex-girlfriend and his eldest daughter. After a period of prohibition to enter into contact with the victims, he had since the beginning of the year enjoyed a mediatized right of access to his teenager. His criminal record includes another mention: a conviction in 2006 for a traffic offense.
The 36-year-old victim had also filed a complaint against him on May 9, after discovering a beacon under his car that she suspected of having installed, said prosecutor Frédéric Chevallier. On May 24, the mother filed a complaint for theft of jewelry and identity documents, again raising her suspicions on her ex-spouse who would have kept double of the keys to their common home which he was forbidden to approach.
