Anna's beer queen dream is over: Peitinger misses out on victory in the final

2023-05-28T06:10:13.610Z

Highlights: With 48.53 percent of the votes, Mona Sommer (24) from Weitnau in Swabia was elected Bavarian Beer Queen. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for Anna Eberle from Peiting. She is a presenter by profession and weather fairy at the private radio station Radio Gong 96.3. The jury's verdict, the votes of the audience and the previous online voting were added up at the end and brought the winner the overwhelming result of almost 49 percent.

Prime Minister Markus Söder can only dream of such a result in the upcoming state elections: With 48.53 percent of the votes, Mona Sommer (24) from Weitnau in Swabia was elected Bavarian Beer Queen. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for Anna Eberle from Peiting.

Peiting – The big plus of the winner: She is a brewer and maltster by profession. This and her charmingly presented expertise convinced the jury and the audience. In addition to Prime Minister Markus Söder and his deputy Hubert Aiwanger, Minister of Agriculture Michaela Kaniber was also a guest at the pompous event of the Bavarian Brewers' Association in Munich's Löwenbräukeller.

And Kaniber took Anna Eberle in her arms after the "coronation" of the new beer queen and found comforting and encouraging words for her: "You have to see it according to the Olympic motto: Being there is everything. What you have experienced in the months of your candidacy, no one can take away from you."

Eberle, a presenter by profession and weather fairy at the private radio station Radio Gong 96.3, was one of over 70 applicants from all over the Free State. In an internal pre-selection, 24 applicants were selected and invited to the final casting in Munich's GOP Variety Theater. There, Eberle made it into the "Top 6".

At the finale, they first had to solve the practical tasks of BR evening show presenter Roman Roell and then face the questions of the expert jury, including DEHOGA President Angela Inselkammer. The jury's verdict, the votes of the audience and the previous online voting were added up at the end and brought the winner the overwhelming result of almost 49 percent.

Anna Eberle and her competitors showed themselves to be fair losers and congratulated Mona Sommer warmly. She will now be able to praise Bavarian beer at home and abroad for a year, while Anna Eberle will continue to present the weather report on "Radio Gong".
