Albert and Charlène of Monaco were among the guests of honour at the coronation of King Charles. At the reception the night before, the regents exchanged views on their bachelorhood.
London – Prince Albert (65) and Princess Charlène of Monaco (45) were among the first guests to sign up for the coronation of King Charles III (74) on May 6. "I don't know how many coronations of an English monarch I'm going to see in my life, so we're going to try to take advantage of that," the head of the Grimaldis explained in an interview with People magazine earlier this year. No wonder, since Albert and Charles have a long-standing friendship.
King Charles and Prince Albert look back on a single time together
King Charles III is only nine years older than Prince Albert II, and the two are united by their status and shared interest in environmental issues, which has resulted in several collaborative projects between their respective charitable foundations. Environmental issues are "concerns that we have discussed frequently," Albert said, according to People magazine. But their single time together has also welded King Charles and Prince Albert together.
Albert II and former professional swimmer Charlène Wittstock have been married since 2010, five years earlier the wedding of Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles (75), today's Queen Camilla, took place. Before Charlène came into his life, Albert was considered one of the most sought-after bachelors, among other things, he was said to have affairs with Claudia Schiffer (52) and Naomi Campbell (53). And Charles was also officially single for several years after he and Princess Diana (36, † 1997) announced their separation in 1992.
Prince Albert's Playboy Years
Before his marriage to Charlène of Monaco, Albert II did not let anything burn. The coveted bachelor dated models and actresses, liked to surround himself with beautiful women. His two illegitimate children also come from his wild years. Mother of Jazmin Grace Grimaldi (31) is the waitress Tamara Rotolo, Nicole Coste, the mother of his son Alexandre Coste (19), met Albert on a flight, she used to work as a stewardess.
At King Charles' Coronation: Intimate Glimpses of Albert's Time as Single for Charlène of Monaco
At a reception at Buckingham Palace, which took place on the eve of the coronation, Prince Albert and King Charles reminisced about their single days, as the head of the Monegasques now revealed in an interview with the French newspaper Monaco-Matin. "I congratulated him and he reminded Princess Charlène in particular that we are old companions who have attended many funerals and weddings together," said Albert. "You usually have to take part in these ceremonies in pairs. Since we were both single, we were usually put next to each other."

My Area
The conversation with Charles was very "warm and very uncomplicated" – and probably quite informative for Charlène of Monaco. But even though Albert and Charlène had recently shown themselves holding hands as a couple in love after rumours of separation, the Prince of Monaco seems to like to reminisce about his time as a single. "I long for my 30s, more precisely my 40s," Albert II recently told Gala.fr. "Back then, I was a bit freer than I am now." Perhaps such statements are also a reason for Charlène's desolate appearance at the coronation of Charles III at Westminster Abbey. Sources used:gala.fr, people.com, monacomatin.mc
