Farewell ceremonies are usually a dreary affair that includes farewell words and wishes for success, but the Finance Ministry outdid itself on Sunday during the farewell ceremony for outgoing Chief Economist Shira Greenberg when former Finance Ministry Director General Ram Belinkov sarcastically criticized the ministry's senior officials.
"It doesn't surprise me that Shira's professional voice is heard these days, and it thunders more against the background of the silence of the sheep." Belnikov, who was the appointment of former Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman, was referring to Budget Department head Yogev Gradus and Accountant General Yali Rotenberg, who, unlike Greenberg, did not express a firm position warning of the economic consequences of the legal reform.

Belinkov complimented Greenberg's professionalism and also referred to the culture of appointments that are taking place during this period. "Shira, you're just a smart woman," he said.
"Perhaps they have forgotten here in the country, where some of its leaders sanctify illiteracy, that wisdom is a good option. Organizations need good and talented managers, and if they are managed by incompetent people, then they will fail."
Belinkov added: "This concerns a lot of recent appointments and a lot of outrageous impeachments and impeachment attempts. The option of appointing talented and smart people enables correct and good decision-making, decisions that are good for the economy, that are good for citizens. Not necessarily suitable for leaders."
