It is the attraction of all records. The one that makes thrill seekers salivate. 110 km/h (record France), 7 accelerations, 3 spins, vertiginous falls of 50 meters at more than 100° of inclination and 23 airtimes (take-off from his seat) during the 1.3 km course: the Toutatis roller coaster is an ode to excess. A symphony of speed and steel that cost Parc Asterix no less than 28 million euros.

Installed in the middle of a new area created for the occasion, this unique rollercoaster is the subject of a special broadcast of "Forbidden Zone" this Sunday evening. For more than a year, Ophélie Meunier's teams followed the park's teams and the manufacture of this metal giant until its inauguration to the public.

Throughout this period, Eric, the uncompromising site manager of the Toutatis attraction, is in the oven and the mill. Between rants and encouragement, he appears as one of the most endearing characters in the M6 report. Not hesitating to put the recalcitrants back in place or to put pressure on service providers to deliver construction parts on time. Another key figure is Thomas, the head of maintenance. The latter has a lot to do with the safety of the attraction and even goes so far as to test it several times in a row. Forced to sit down to recover some of his emotions and let his stomach fall back into place, he then proceeds to inspect the 15,000 pieces of Toutatis to make sure everything is working perfectly.

On the promotion side, Parc Asterix did not skimp on the means by choosing a prestigious godfather, the actor-director Philippe Lacheau. For the official inauguration of Toutatis, the man of all the successes of French cinema was accompanied by part of his usual band: Julien Arruti, Reem Kherici and his companion Élodie Fontan. "I am the sponsor of the attraction but I had never seen it before," says Philippe Lacheau. "When I arrived in front, the park director told me that it had to be done and because I am scared, I was apprehensive. But it is so amazing, fluid and creepy that I predict it a great success! »

"The Fifi gang" was not alone at the inauguration. Many personalities had made the trip, most often with family, to discover the Toutatis phenomenon: Audrey Fleurot, Arnaud Ducret, Julie Depardieu, Ludivine Sagnier, Jean-Paul Rouve, Bilal Hassani or the former Miss France Élodie Gossuin and Maëva Coucke. Not to mention the world-famous French DJ, Martin Solveig, who delighted the guests with an unforgettable set.

People

Like its competitor Disneyland, Parc Asterix now uses celebrities and their image to promote its novelties. Like Robb Alvey, one of the world's biggest amusement park influencers. "Forbidden Zone" followed his arrival on the Parc Asterix. We discover him pampered by his hosts who give him an integral tour of the attraction. With nearly 2 million subscribers on his YouTube channel dedicated to theme parks, Robb has a real impact on the public, especially American, that Parc Asterix is trying to seduce to catch up with its competitor at Disney.

The Toutatis attraction seems to be off to a good start given the exceptional enthusiasm it caused when it opened. At this moment, the cameras of M6 follow Sébastien, the deputy director of the park, who opens the doors in front of a crowd of 15,000 people. The rush to Toutatis is spectacular and quickly causes an endless queue. Proof that the irreducible Gauls are still resisting in the battle of amusement parks.
