The 12-year-old wanted to swim to escape the torpor of Pentecost weekend. With her 14-year-old sister, and two other teenagers, she went to the banks of Guiers in Pont-de-Beauvoisin this Sunday. The two sisters were sucked into eddies formed by the hydroelectric plant, reports Le Dauphiné. The largest managed to rise to the surface, while her friends tried to rescue the youngest, in vain. Las, his head had hit a rock, according to the first elements, and it did not rise to the surface.
The three teenagers, unharmed, took refuge on a rock and alerted the emergency services. About thirty firefighters from Savoie and Isère (the Guiers river being the administrative border) are deployed, as well as several teams of divers, who explored the first of the two pipes of the plant, stopped and emptied. The rescuers were surprised by the storm, around 16:30 p.m., which slowed the search.
But, around 20 p.m., they discover the lifeless body of the teenager. An investigation, entrusted to the gendarmes of Pont-de-Beauvoisin by the prosecutor's office of Chambéry, is opened. The mayor opened a psychological cell for families in a kindergarten.
