Kibbutz Ein Gedi was blocked this evening because of floods. "There is no entrance and no exit," said Merav Alon, a kibbutz resident. "Right now it's spot on. It rained crazy heavy here an hour ago and we realized they would shut us down. We've been preparing for two days now. Nature has not disappointed, it's a spectacular sight, but you have to be very careful."
The unusual weather in the south led to road closures and flooding this evening. In the afternoon, Route 40 was closed to traffic in the area of Nahal Tarshim, between Mitzpe Ramon and Tzichhor. Later, Route 90 was also closed to traffic from the Ein Bokek area to Ein Gedi. In addition, the section from the cliffs of Dragot to the south was closed. At this stage, the heavy rains are concentrated in the southern Dead Sea region and in the Ramon Crater area. Police direct traffic on roads that have been closed. The Tamar Regional Council asked curious people not to come to the area because of the erosion and stones on the road.
