Highlights: A series of multi-system tests of the Iron Dome-based system adapted to Israeli Navy ships was recently successfully completed. Among the threats examined: rockets, cruise missiles and drones. "The system will enable the defense establishment to ensure its superiority and operational freedom of action in the naval arena," says Defense Minister Yoav Galant. The system is another layer in the multi-layered defense system, which also includes the "Arrow" and "Magic Wand" systems, and whose development is led by the Ministry of Defense.

The IDF's Navy Arm and the Defense Ministry's Directorate for Research, Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure, together with Rafael and IAI, have recently successfully completed a series of interception tests of a number of systems, chief among them the "Defensive Dome" system in a naval configuration from the Sa'ar 6 defense ship, against a variety of advanced threats.

The fighters of the missile squadron (Shayetet 3, the missile boats) led the operation of the system in the test, as part of the process of implementing the weapons systems on the defense ships.

The series examined a number of scenarios that simulate existing and future threats that defense ships may face during conflict, such as rockets, cruise missiles and drones. In the test, the ship's systems were integrated into the multi-layered defense system and new technologies were tested to increase the operational effectiveness of the air defense system at sea and on land.

"Defensive Dome" is a significant layer in the self-defense and spatial defense system of the defense ships and constitutes a significant leap forward both for the existing capabilities in protecting the assets and economic interests of the State of Israel in the EEZ, and for the State of Israel's naval superiority in the arena.

The "Defensive Dome" on Sa'ar 6 ships is based on the "Iron Dome" system and is integrated into the national air defense system. The system is another layer in the multi-layered defense system, which also includes the "Arrow" and "Magic Wand" (David's Sling) systems, and whose development is led by the Ministry of Defense through the "Homa" Administration at the DDR. Rafael is the main developer of the "Iron Dome" defense system.

IAI, through the ELTA Systems division, developed the naval 'Adir' radar. mPrest develops the command and control system of the "Defensive Dome" system.

Defense Minister Yoav Galant: "The Defensive Dome system constitutes a significant leap forward in defense capabilities at sea, and enables the defense establishment to ensure its superiority and operational freedom of action in the face of the growing threats in the maritime arena. The system in its naval version joins the multi-layered defense system for the State of Israel, which is considered groundbreaking on a global scale. I greatly appreciated the DDR, the IDF and Rafael for turning a technological vision into a real operational capability on the ground."

Dr. Daniel Gold, Director of DDR, said, "The successful test campaign is a component of a series of actions we are carrying out in order to improve Israel's air defense systems, prepare for future threats and improve the performance of the systems in the face of existing threats. The success of the campaign further strengthens our confidence in the defense systems and their ability to defend vast areas and strategic assets of the State of Israel on land and at sea. We will continue to work together with the IDF and the defense industries to defend the State of Israel in every region and at every point, while realizing and preserving the State of Israel's qualitative advantage."

Moshe Fattal, Head of the Homa Administration at MAFAT: "The defense establishment continues, all the time, to upgrade the capabilities of Iron Dome, on land and at sea, in order to increase its effectiveness. In the current campaign, we successfully tested additional new capabilities for the system in its naval configuration, aboard the Sa'ar 6 ship, along with additional layers of Israel's multi-layered defense system.

"Using the same capabilities, linking the ship's systems to systems on land and the radar developed specifically for the mission of protecting the economic waters, the system successfully identified the threats - rockets, drones and cruise missiles and launched at them, from the heart of the sea, the naval Iron Dome interceptors, which destroyed them with perfect accuracy. The organization and execution of this campaign coincided with the very successful operational operation of the Iron Dome and David's Sling systems in Operation Shield and Arrow. The Homa Directorate continues to strengthen the operational systems by providing an ongoing operational and technological response and building a response to future challenges."
