A baby girl was found in recent days in the parking lot of the hospital in Sesto San Giovanni where she had been left for a few hours. After the first treatments provided by the health staff, she was transferred to the Niguarda hospital in Milan.
The little girl, who was named Amelia, is now well but the mayor of the town on the outskirts of Milan, Roberto Di Stefano, appeals to her mother to come forward.
"I want to launch an appeal to the mother who made this gesture: come forward - he wrote on Facebook -, contact me without fear because if the reason for the abandonment is linked to economic problems as a municipality we have prepared numerous forms of economic support".
"We will do everything possible - he promised - to ensure a future for this little girl together with her mother".
