A 19-year-old was trapped under a container weighing several tons on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, on a farm during repair work and died.
Duvensee – A 24-year-old was fatally injured in an accident at work on a farm in Duvensee, Schleswig-Holstein, on Wednesday evening, May 2023, 19. As the police and the public prosecutor's office explained the next day in Ratzeburg and Lübeck, the man was trapped under an agricultural device during repair work and died at the scene of the accident.

According to a report in the Bild newspaper, the accident is said to have occurred shortly after work. According to the report, the young man got off his tractor shortly after 18:00 p.m. because something seemed to be wrong with the fertilizer spreader attached to the tractor. While the 19-year-old tried to repair the device, the tank, which weighed several tons, may have sunk due to a hydraulic defect.
In a fatal sequence of unfortunate events, the suspension was broken and the 19-year-old was trapped under the container full of fertilizers. "The man suffered life-threatening injuries and died at the scene of the accident," said the press spokesman for the Lübeck public prosecutor's office, Christian Braunwarth, according to the Bild report.
It is possible that a defective hydraulic hose could have been the reason for the accident. An expert from the testing company in the Dekra expert system is to help reconstruct the course of the accident. Further investigations are being conducted by the criminal investigation department, according to the AFP news agency.
19-year-old had apparently only helped out as a friendship service on the farm
The young man had apparently only helped out on the farm as a friendly service and was actually an apprentice at an agricultural machinery manufacturer. He is said to have been very enthusiastic about tractors and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. "He was such a nice guy, always helpful and always there for others," an acquaintance of the accident victim told the Bild newspaper.
Last year, a 12-year-old died after being run over by a tractor on a farm. Another tractor accident last year, however, ended lightly, a three-year-old remained uninjured.
