Ellmau – For 16 seasons, "Der Bergdoktor" fans have been able to follow Dr. Martin Gruber. The popular doctor series on ZDF is set in the Austrian municipality of Ellmau at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser. In order to be very close to the stars of the series, such as Hans Sigl (53) and Mark Keller (58), numerous fans also make a pilgrimage there. However, this created a wild pee problem.
Because of "The Mountain Doctor" fans, a public toilet must be set up
The filming of the 17th season of "Der Bergdoktor" is in full swing and Hans Sigl has already shown the first pictures. However, there is one innovation on the set - and the crew has the loyal fans of the ZDF series to thank for it, as the main actor told in the podcast "Apocalypse & Filter Coffee". In it, Hans Sigl chatted with Micky Beisenherz (45) about the latest events and also came to talk about a story about a wild peeer who was attacked by an alligator. The actor was even able to report something from the "Bergdoktor" world.
"The Mountain Doctor" also has a wild pee problem. "It is indeed the case that in recent years some fans and visitors on the long way to our practice here in Ellmau, where the mountain doctor is ordained, as it is called in Austria, could no longer hold back the emergency and these incidents also occurred - and that's why we now have a public toilet behind the house," Hans Sigl told us about his secrets. Since then, the visitors have been "happier than they were before".
Hans Sigl's secret guest role in "Der Bergdoktor"
Since 2008, Hans Sigl has embodied the title hero Martin Gruber in "Der Bergdoktor". The exciting life of the country doctor inspires millions of loyal fans with every episode and has made his actor one of the biggest stars of the German television landscape. But what very few people know is that the role as Lisbeth Gruber's son is not Hans Sigl's first appearance as a mountain doctor. Ten years before he slipped into the white doctor's coat, he was already seen as a taxi driver in the popular series, which was still running on Sat.1 at the time and which focused on Gerhard Lippert, a completely different mountain doctor. Who knows – maybe one day an extra from the ZDF remake will be Hans Sigl's successor?
