Andaz Prague, Czech myths and legends

This five-star hotel (Hyatt) is a treat for the eyes. Press photo

Opened in March 2022, a stone's throw from the Old City, this five-star hotel (Hyatt) is a treat for the eyes. The listed building, erected in the twentieth century, was once called "Sugar Palace". Playing on Czech myths and legends, the designers mischievously animated the 152 rooms and suites with friendly details. Thus, the head of a lion, in relief, emerges from the wall like a (nice) sugar ghost as if to protect our dreams. Another example, two golden hands enclose the curtains with a gradient of blue... There is humor and poetry even in the ZEM restaurant and Bar MEZ.

The room to book: the 416, one of the 8 Wintergarden Suite, for its window-turret at the corner of the building.

The price: from 420 € the double room.

Sports enthusiasts will be delighted with the fitness room and the 9 outdoor tennis courts (clay) and 3 indoor courts. Not to mention the spa, yoga sessions and restaurant... And for car lovers, Prague Motol's Trabant Museum is a 10-minute walk away.

In the Malá Strana district and in the shadow of the castle, the luxury hotel Augustine is a delightful haven of peace. Probably because he found refuge in part of a monastery. The former monks' cells, enlarged, have been transformed into 101 rooms and suites with discreet touches of Czech cubism. Some have a mesmerizing and timeless view, embracing the castle and vineyards. On sunny days, the garden is celebrating: barbecues, brunches, concerts... Finally, the hotel offers an exclusive guided tour of the part of the monastery still in operation. In the library, incredible, we will see books dating from the fifteenth century.

A few steps from the Old City, a neo-Renaissance building has been offering this double hotel service since 2022: rooms and apartments of various sizes equipped with a kitchen. An obviously very convenient option for families or long stays – a shared washing machine is available on the ground floor. The 168 rooms-residences are inspired by the color palette of the famous artists Mucha and Kupka of the last century, declining rust, lichen green, mustard, blue and beige tones. The same autumn range applies to the bar-bistro, bathed in natural light passing through the glass rotunda.

The Emblem Prague Hotel, an anthology of styles

59 rooms and suites with a design straight out of a magic cauldron. Press photo

The early twentieth century façade alone recalls how Prague was at the forefront during this period. We read different styles, from cubism to the almost heralding lines of the Bauhaus. Unusual, this façade hides 59 rooms and suites with a design straight out of a magic cauldron: the designer was inspired by the film Metropolis by Fritz Lang, the astrology drawings of the Danish Tycho Brahe and the polygon of Kepler! Works by artists and designers from Central Europe contribute to the decoration – Czech Jakub Polanka designed the team's uniforms. Located in the Old Town, the hotel features a restaurant (George Prime Steak) and a spa with a rooftop.

The room to book: The Library Suite, under the eaves, with a foot bath in the room.

The price: from 250 € the double room.

Hotel BoHo Prague, contemporary chic

Its rooms, with neutral and soft tones, are all decorated with a unique shot by photographer Jordi Llorella. Adria Goula

From the street leading to the Powder Tower and the Municipal House, the eye is drawn by a bay window revealing a long lively bar counter. Despite this transparency, the BoHo is a discreet and elegant hotel. Its rooms, with neutral and soft tones, are all decorated with a unique shot by photographer Jordi Llorella. He was invited to take a daily photo of Prague with his darkroom for 57 days – the exact number of rooms in the establishment. Very relaxing (the sound insulation is excellent), the hotel has a small spa.

The room to book: the 312, a suite, overlooking the courtyard.

The price: from 190 € the double room.

Hotel BoHo Prague Senovázná 1254/4, 110 00 Prague. Tel: +420 234 622 600.

Mandarin Oriental Prague, historic luxury

The Mandarin Oriental is one of Prague's jewels. Press photo

On the left bank of the Vltava River, in the Malá Strana district, the Mandarin Oriental is one of Prague's jewels. Nestled in a former monastery of the fourteenth century, it unfolds different styles of Renaissance, Baroque and modern architecture. The 99 rooms and suites, some overlooking the garden, are dressed in a classic style. Its great asset remains the spa of 490 square meters located in the old chapel dating from the Renaissance and accessible by an underground passage. A glass floor gives a glimpse of the ruins of a Gothic church discovered during the work of the hotel... Magic!

The room to book: the Presidential Suite, duplex, on the 5th floor of a private tower and with terrace... To book for a (very) great occasion.

The price: from 400 € the double room.

Mandarin Oriental, Nebovidská 459/1, 118 00 Prague. Tel: +420 233 088 888.
