Tölzer Rosentage in the weather

2023-05-29T15:10:48.034Z

Highlights: The 22nd edition of the Tölzer Rosentage took place in Bad TöLz. Highlights were the visit of Rose Princess Leni I and the celebration of the rural women's anniversary. The long Pentecost weekend under a white-blue sky with lots of sun and pleasant temperatures was the best way to showcase the always well-mixed range of market stalls in the gardens of the former Franciscan monastery. "The beautiful weather is beautiful, the people are very nice, the event is very nice," said one visitor.

There has been a lively rush in the Tölz monastery gardens over the past few days, and in the best weather. Thousands of visitors strolled and shopped again at the Rose Days. Highlights were the visit of Rose Princess Leni I and the celebration of the rural women's anniversary.

Bad Tölz – In the past, the Tölz Rose Days were not always accompanied by good weather. But this time – in the 22nd edition – there was really no reason to complain about this. After cool and rainy weeks, the long Pentecost weekend under a white-blue sky with lots of sun and pleasant temperatures was the best way to showcase the always well-mixed range of market stalls in the gardens of the former Franciscan monastery.

Organizer Michaela Dorfmeister satisfied

In view of the optimal conditions, the popularity left nothing to be desired. On Monday, organizer Michaela Dorfmeister and her team were also delighted with the good course of events. In her preliminary summary, Dorfmeister estimated the number of visitors to be about the same as last year. "We haven't increased exhibitor fees and entrance fees for a number of years, while costs have naturally gone up," she said. "Now we have to see what the financial balance looks like."

For visitors, the rose, Franciscan and monastery gardens offer a beautiful backdrop that is a good place to stroll, even if you don't have any big purchases planned. "But most of the time something catches your eye," said a couple from Dietramszell, who finally made their way home with some herb pots and a handy pair of secateurs in their luggage.

Many decorative items for the garden

At the booth of the Rottenegger nursery from Schwabmünchen, the houseleek, botanically called Sempervivum, the "ever-living", was strongly represented in various species. "This plant is hardy and hardy and also produces beautiful flowers," said a buyer and happily put the purchased specimen in her cloth bag.

Between decorative creations made of metal and reclaimed wood, knitwear and felt, jewellery and fragrant soaps, Iris Jarsch from Königsdorf also presented a selection of her handmade ceramics for the first time at the Rose Days. In her work, she puts her personal touch primarily in the crystal glazes, she says, and shows the distinctive speckled designs of cups, tea bowls and associated pots, the latter with handles made of Isar driftwood.

Many loyal visitors from all over the region

The topic of health was taken up, among other things, with the spelt pillows by Rosi Hönig from Obersanding. The small-scale multi-chamber system of the differently shaped pillows releases the stored heat where it is good for the human body, such as muscle tension, joint pain or mucus in the chest area, the provider explained to interested guests.

A group of visitors from Penzberg was quite taken with the ambience in the exhibition gardens. "We like it here, that's why we come back every year," the three couples agreed. The overall package of Rose Days with a range of goods and an accompanying programme is already an elaborate event.

Visit of the Rose Princess from Saxony-Anhalt

This opinion was shared by the Sangerhausen Rose Princess Leni I: She had already arrived on Thursday, and on Sunday afternoon her big official appearance with the entry in the Golden Book of the City of Bad Tölz was on the stage in the Rose Garden. "The show is beautiful, the weather is beautiful, the people here are very nice," Her Highness summed up her impressions in a few words.

In the course of the long-standing connection between Michaela Dorfmeister and district farmer Ursula Fiechtner, the Rose Days also formed a podium for the ceremony on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the rural women in the Bavarian Farmers' Association.

Rural women celebrate the 75th anniversary of their association

On the stage in the monastery garden on Saturday morning, state farmer Christine Singer gave an overview of the development from the not so easy beginnings of rural women's work in a world dominated by men at the time to the present. Over the decades, the women have dealt with a wide range of gender-specific, social and societal problem areas and their effects on agriculture and initiated improvements. "The sustainability that is so often demanded today was and is a natural part of everyday life on farms," emphasized Christine Singer in her appealing lecture.

In addition, young women and farmers' wives from the Tölz area, Magdalena Probst, Petra Haslinger, Steffi Schöffmann and Lisa Sappl, reported on their activities with kindergarten groups and school classes on stage in order to introduce the little ones to rural processes and the value of food.

From the hustle and bustle of the market to social necessities, work, the environment, climate: The Rose Days once again offered space for (almost) all aspects of human existence. (Text: Rosi Bauer)
