MK Avigdor Lieberman spoke on Monday with National Camp Chairman Benny Gantz and Opposition Leader Yair Lapid in an attempt to reach an agreed-upon candidate.
Lieberman arrived at Gantz's office in the Knesset and then spoke with Lapid in the plenary session in order to reach an agreement on the identity of an opposition representative on the committee.
Earlier, Lieberman criticized the two, writing on Twitter: "Unfortunately, what we have seen in recent hours is child's play, which serves the Netanyahu government. I call on the leaders of the opposition parties to reset themselves and start acting like a real opposition instead of fighting over positions."
Unfortunately, what we have seen in recent hours is child's play, which serves the Netanyahu government. I call on the leaders of the opposition parties to reset themselves and start acting like a real opposition instead of fighting over positions. I suggest that everyone convene immediately and elect an agreed candidate for the Judicial Appointments Committee.

Among other things, a source in the state camp attacked Yesh Atid Chairman after his call for support for party MK Karin Elharrar for the Judicial Selection Committee: "Lapid is trying to harness the horses before the wagon, jeopardizing the big move we were working on at the President's House. According to the agreement that was formulated, the coalition will nominate only one candidate and will hold the elections on June 14."
At a meeting of his party, Lapid referred to the battle over the opposition representative to the Judicial Appointments Committee, saying that "if the votes are split and another coalition representative is elected, it will be a disaster."
