The Israeli killed (50) when the tourist boat capsized on Lake Maggiore in Italy is a retiree serving in the security forces. The Israeli consul in Rome together with the Department for Israelis Abroad in the Foreign Ministry are working to bring the coffin of the deceased to Israel.
Three other people, Italians, drowned when the tourist boat capsized after an unusual storm caused the boat to overturn and sink.

The boat sailed through the lake in adverse weather conditions with high winds and limited visibility with 25 people on board. After overturning, 21 of the passengers were rescued or swam to safety. The Italian newspaper, La Stampa, reported that one of the dead was a 53-year-old foreign man, but did not name him.
According to the newspaper, a group of foreign tourists and Italian citizens were having a birthday party on the boat when a sudden storm surprised them in the middle of the lake.
