The US State Department responded Monday to the operation in the middle of the night in Homesh: "We are troubled by Israel's decision."
The Americans said of the decision: "We are troubled by Israel's decision to allow a permanent presence in Homesh. This contradicts Ariel Sharon's commitments to President Bush and contradicts the current government's commitments to the Biden administration."

After it was revealed in Israel Hayom that Galant had instructed the IDF to sign an order permitting Jews to stay in Homesh, yeshiva students secretly relocated the yeshiva a few hundred meters from where it sat to this day. At the end of the work in the early morning, the head of the Samaria Council, Yossi Dagan, arrived and erected a mezuzah at the entrance to the Beit Midrash.
This is a controversial step, because it was taken on the orders of Defense Minister Galant and Defense Ministry Minister Smotrich, but without the required permits, so it is in fact against the law in the region. Last Friday, the settlers tried to bring mobile structures and tractors to the site, on orders from the political echelon, but were stopped by the IDF.
