In the winter season of 2023-2022, the vaccination rate of medical teams against the flu vaccine was very low, reaching only 31%. This is the lowest vaccination rate since the beginning of monitoring and reporting vaccination data to the Ministry of Health in 2014. The decline in vaccination rates came after a significant increase in the winter of 2020, when vaccination campaigns against COVID-2022 were held, while in the winter season of 2021-34, a significant decline was identified in the vaccination rate, which reached 41%.
The most significant decline in the vaccination rate was among physicians – from 2021% in the winter of 36 to 34% this season. The most significant decline, a decline of five percent, was recorded in general hospitals and HMOs, compared with a decline of one percent in mental health hospitals and a six- and seven-percent increase in the vaccination of doctors in geriatric hospitals and health bureaus. The decline in vaccination among nurses and nurses was just one percent from 33 percent to <> percent this year. The most significant decrease.
The Ministry of Health reports several reasons for the significant decline in the vaccination rate. According to the ministry, the main reasons are the phenomenon of "vaccine fatigue", against the background of the repeated booster vaccination campaigns against the coronavirus, the lack of significant influenza morbidity in the previous winter season, the lack of significant media campaigns, and the lack of managerial focus to encourage vaccination and avoid combined influenza and coronavirus morbidity.

Of the four HMOs, Leumit Health Fund recorded the lowest vaccination rate, with only 16% for female physicians and 15% for nurses. In contrast, in the other three health plans, the average is 45% among nurses and 31% among physicians.
Among the general hospitals, Assuta Hospital in Ashdod tops the list with the highest vaccination rate - 54%. In contrast, Laniado Hospital in Netanya and Mayanei HaYeshua in Bnei Brak round out the list with only 21% each. Of the six largest hospitals, Beilinson Hospital has the highest vaccination rates with 37%, while Sheba Tel Hashomer Hospital is at the bottom of the list with only 24%.
In mental health hospitals, the vaccination rate stands at 36%, an increase of one percent compared to the previous winter. The mental health centers in Be'er Sheva, Mazor and Abarbanel reported the highest vaccination rates among mental health hospitals, at 56%, 54%, and 54%, respectively.
Compared to the rest of the world, the vaccination rate of medical personnel in Israel during 2022-2014 is much lower than the vaccination figures in the United States, where the percentage of vaccinated staff stands at 75.9%, or in England, where 61.4% are reportedly vaccinated.
