A 39-year-old worker, Giuseppe Spagna, died in an accident at work in Rocca Imperiale, in the Upper Ionian Sea of Cosenza. The victim, married and with a daughter, was overwhelmed and crushed by a boulder detached, for reasons under investigation, from a pre-existing concrete structure. The worker, who lived in Roseto Capo Spulico (Cosenza), was working on behalf of an earthmoving company in Castrovillari for the safety of the banks of the "Canna" stream.
The Public Prosecutor's Office of Castrovillari opened an investigation to ascertain any responsibility and seized the construction site where the worker was working.
The carabinieri investigate. The carabinieri of the Compagnia di Cassano allo Ionio and the firefighters intervened on the spot, removing the boulder that overwhelmed the worker, allowing the transfer of the body to the morgue.
