Mysterious find in the Spitzer pond: A sunken car was recovered from the small lake near Geltendorf on Saturday. The car with an Austrian license plate was probably disposed of there.
Around 14 p.m., a stand-up paddler had identified the outline of the car among herself and dialed 112. Since it was unclear whether people in the car were people, a large contingent of rescue workers arrived.
"It could not be ruled out that the car had just been involved in an accident," explains Manfred Gürich, spokesman for the Bruck BRK. However, rescue divers were able to quickly give the all-clear. The older Golf was heavily mossed and must have been lying at the bottom of the Spitzer pond for a little longer. "Based on the vegetation, I assume that it has been more than a year," says Gürich.
How did the car get there? "Whether it is a disposal or whether there is more behind it, is now being determined," says a spokesman for the Landsberg police. The Austrian colleagues are responsible. About ten years ago, a car was recovered from the Spitzer Weiher.
