What proposals offers us the most illuminated -and feared- night of the month. Astrologer Beatriz Leveratto explains.

For astrology, the Full Moon is one of the most important lunar phases in the month. Even in popular culture, the countless myths about full moon nights show that they are the best known, commented and, for some, the most feared.

But, just as we can reinterpret the proposal that brings a transit with "bad reputation" as Mercury retrograde, it is important to know the astrological meaning of each full Moon to put your proposal into practice.

In principle, it must be taken into account that this lunar phase is perfected because the Sun is facing the Moon, illuminating the visible face of the natural satellite from the terrestrial perspective. This gives way to the brightest night of the month. So what does the full Moon mean for astrology?

The astrologer, tarot reader and author Beatriz Leveratto points out to Clarín that "the full moon illuminates the darkness not only of material reality, but also of the psyche itself." That is why, he explains, the myth of the lobizón as a symbol is so recurrent, because "we can see our most repressed and savage aspects."

"They are ideal nights to realize, purify and overcome fears," explains Leveratto about the full moon evenings. (Photo: illustration Shutterstock)

The specialist clarifies that, instead of fearing this lunar phase, this is presented to us as a great opportunity. "They are ideal nights to realize, purify and overcome fears, because there is greater active awareness," he says. In addition, the themes of each lunation will be influenced by the qualities of the sign in which they are perfected.

And how do the zodiacal opposition axes intervene in this lunar phase? They are a fundamental aspect because "every time we are going to have a full Moon in front of the sign we are transiting," explains the astrologer. That is, if the Sun is in Taurus, the full moon occurs in Scorpio, as happened at the beginning of the month. Now that the Sun has just entered the sign of Gemini, the full moon of June 4 will be in Sagittarius, its opposite sign.

In summary, just as the astrological meaning of the new moon proposes us to start cycles and put together projects to grow during the next two weeks, the full moon focuses on recognizing the less visible aspects of ourselves.

Eclipses are phenomena that deserve a separate mention, Leveratto adds. As we have already said, during each full moon the Earth is located between the Moon and the Sun, but every six months "our planet 'covers' the Moon and lunar eclipses are generated by the coincidence of inclination of the orbits of the Moon, the Earth and the Sun," he says.

What each Full Moon of this 2023 proposes

To review the full moons of this year's lunar calendar, Leveratto lists some of the themes that will manifest themselves in each full moon. If we know how our natal chart is configured, we can see in detail which is the house (or area of our life) in which the full moon will impact the most.

January 6 Full Moon at Grade 16 Cancer

This full moon reflected the Sun in Capricorn and illuminated the excessive tendency to isolate oneself and feel the world as a hostile place, says Leveratto. The astrologer adds that "he also invited us to observe our excessive demands that seek to make us an 'important person' for belonging or occupying a place in society."

Noticing excessive self-demands could help us lower the pressure and begin to bring us some peace.

February 5 Full Moon at Leo's 16th Degree

While the Sun was positioned in Aquarius, this full moon "invited to illuminate our creativity, how much we enable and trust our own intuitions," says the specialist. With Aquarian imprint and originality, the Full Moon offered us the opportunity to trust our most authentic side to free ourselves and not depend on social approval.

March 7 Full Moon in the 16th Degree of Virgo

This full moon reflected the Sun positioned in the last sign of the zodiacal wheel, Pisces. Leveratto indicates that this event invited us to illuminate the importance we give – or not – to our sensitivity and intuition. The question he put on the table was: how much place do we give to the sacred dimension of existence?

In addition, the full Moon "proposes to stop striving to explain everything from the rational and controlling mind," adds the astrologer. Simply put, if we could open our intuition and our heart more, we managed to connect with a life full of sensitivity.

April 6 Full Moon at 16 degree Libra

The full moon reflected the Arian Sun and his proposal was based on focusing on how independent we are. "Being independent means being able to live free of the opinions of others, if we discover ourselves very reactive and combative it is possible that we are excessively trapped in the need to be approved by others," says the specialist.

May 5th Full Moon at Scorpio's 14th degree

This full moon reflected the bullfighting Sun and coincided with a lunar eclipse. Leveratto says the astronomical event emphasized the validity we give to what is good for us. It also led us to wonder how much we risk for our values and how we record and communicate our perception of the world.

Another theme of this May Full Moon was that it helped us become aware of how we generate money: do we use our talents for it or are we in the middle of an inertia in a job that does not satisfy us but offers economic security? If we could develop these questions we obtained information on the ways to link with money from vitality.

June 4 Full Moon at the 13th degree of Sagittarius

The next full Moon reflects the Geminian Sun that began its transit on May 21. In that sense, it invites to illuminate how adaptable and inclusive we can be by appreciating the points of view of others, explains Leveratto.

The author adds that this full moon focuses on improving our listening skills to optimize our way of communicating and fulfill a conciliatory role in favor of mutual progress: "It gives us the opportunity to become active agents that link and improve distant or conflictive relationships."

July 3 Full Moon at the 11th Degree of Capricorn

The full moon will reflect the Sun in Cancer. Under this influence we will have to illuminate our emotional inheritances and decipher to what extent our fears are our own or have been transmitted by the family.

The Full Moon helps us to observe "how we are to take care of others and how much we let ourselves be taken care of." says Leveratto. He also assures that the Cancerian theme will be revealed when we ask ourselves how dependent or distant we are on affections and clans. It will be a key opportunity to find new ways to express our sensitivity and encourage us to show the most tender and sincere emotions.

August 1 Full Moon at the 9th degree of Aquarius

This full moon will reflect the leonine Sun and, for this reason, the main theme will be focused on "registering and illuminating our egoic attachments", on working on the tendency to consider ourselves "the center of the universe". The astrologer and author points out that, if we mirror this side of Leo, we will notice an opportunity to "abandon pride". Instead of being easily offended, we can laugh at ourselves and our ego.

Lunation will propose to stop waiting for external approval to give free rein to one of the most valuable attributes of the leonines: their generosity. Leveratto explains that if we get off that "egoic pedestal" we can make way for our creativity to "circulate at the service of the community" and live that happiness together.

August 30 Full Moon at Pisces 7 Degree

Just before the end of the eighth month of the year, we will have the full moon reflecting the Virginian Sun. The second full moon of August "invites us to illuminate our excessive tendency to criticize ourselves and others," says the author.

The proposal will be to "accept that our human lives are full of imperfections and, from that loving acceptance, begin to distinguish what deserves to be improved and what will be difficult to change, because we will have to learn to live with it."

September 29 Full Moon at Aries Grade 6

This full moon will be reflecting the Sun in Libra. Her proposal will be focused on "leveling the need to feel independent and, at the same time, integrated into society and generous with the needs of others," says the specialist.

The Aries – Libra axis seeks the balance between consensus to enjoy healthy and mature coexistence without neglecting individual needs. Leveratto summarizes that the September Full Moon "proposes to abandon the feeling that we must sacrifice our own interests to please others."

Full Moon of October 28 in the 5th degree of Taurus

Accompanied by a partial lunar eclipse, the full moon of October in Taurus will be reflecting the Scorpio Sun. That is, the focus will be on that pretension to want to control everything.

For Leveratto, it also invites us to "illuminate our most deep-rooted fears and overcome the pains of the past. It gives us the opportunity to free ourselves from emotional and material ties and distinguish what we no longer need to walk with so much burden." This time the key word will be "let go".

November 27 Full Moon at Gemini Degree 4

The full moon that will be reflecting the Sagittarian Sun will be distinguished because it will highlight that tendency to impose our truth and always want to be right.

The astrologer and tarot reader indicates that it will be an opportunity to actively listen to those who think differently and understand how much we can enrich ourselves with the ideas of others. "It challenges us to overcome the human tendency to believe ourselves superior" and, instead of feeling threatened or disqualifying the looks of others, learn from them and open up.

December 26 Full Moon at Grade 4 Cancer

The last full Moon of the year will be reflecting the Capricorn Sun. The full moon will challenge us to notice and work on our rigidity and inflexibility.

In Leveratto's opinion, lunation will propose "ordering the reality of the present with greater flexibility and beginning to set priorities, recognize the real of the present and alleviate unnecessary burdens of past times." We can even assess whether we have become more severe because we perceive ourselves more fearful of the difficulties and losses of life.
