The 55-year-old victim confronted three criminals who shot him after the struggle.

A man of about 55 years was killed on Tuesday morning by criminals who shot him after trying to prevent the theft of his truck at the door of his house in the Buenos Aires town of Aldo Bonzi, party of La Matanza.

The incident occurred at 7:40 a.m. on 674 Humahuaca Street, when the victim took his truck out of the garage of his house with intentions of going to work, police sources reported.

In those circumstances, the man was approached by three criminals who got out of a red car, in which at least one accomplice was waiting for them.

The assailants threatened the driver with weapons and made him get out of the truck, at which point the victim resisted the blows to the robbery. That sequence was recorded in a video from a security camera in the area.

At one point, when the man tried to run away, one of the robbers fired two shots at him in the back that knocked him unconscious on the ground. When the ambulance arrived, he was already dead.

Daniela, a neighbor of the area, told TN that she was leaving her house to go to work, at the same time, when she heard two shots, but said that "it is very common" that shots are heard in the area.

Immediately, he left with the car and turned into the street where Emilio, the assaulted man, was lying on the ground. "I asked what happened and they told me they wanted to rob him and shot him twice, to call the ambulance and the police," he said.

He also said that he returned home and asked his father to call emergencies before returning to the scene: "The police took a lot to come, the ambulance also and the man was lying in the street. His wife, desperate. The neighbors saying 'hold on'. But it seems to me that I was no longer conscious."

"You can't be like this, I was robbed here on the corner with a knife in my neck. When we were waiting, a neighbor came and told the police that he was robbed here in Ayacucho, but they did not pay attention," he continued.

The fact of which that neighbor spoke occurred seconds after what happened on Humahuaca Street and it would be the same criminals who escaped from that first robbery attempt – they could not take the truck – who finally stole a Citroen C3 to escape.

The neighbor who testified also remarked that the area has become very unsafe in recent years. Not long ago we were playing in the street and now I'm afraid to go to the kiosk. That they steal my cell phone, well, that's it, but that they kill you for a cell phone is crazy. I have to pick up my mom at the bus stop because she's scared," he said.

In the place worked this morning members of the Scientific Police and the prosecutor of Homicides of La Matanza, Claudio Fornaro.
