Highlights: After almost four years of planning, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new daycare center on Erich-Kästner-Straße with around 160 places recently took place. With the planned completion of the nursery extension in 2024/2025, a total of 36 crèche children, 175 kindergarten children and 100 after-school care children are expected to be able to be cared for on the site. The Munich office Hirner & Riehl, which was also responsible for the existing building, was won over for the planning of the two-storey extension.

Holzkirchen – After almost four years of planning, including a respite due to distortions in the construction sector, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new daycare center on Erich-Kästner-Straße with around 160 places recently took place.

With the planned completion of the nursery extension in 2024/2025, a total of 36 crèche children, 175 kindergarten children and 100 after-school care children are expected to be able to be cared for on the site.

Mayor Christoph Schmid welcomed the guests to the groundbreaking ceremony for the extension to the existing Kinderland daycare center. Accordingly, the market town council launched the project in July 2019. The Munich office Hirner & Riehl, which was also responsible for the existing building, was won over for the planning of the two-storey extension. However, due to Corona and the Ukraine war with the well-known consequences and lack of offers, a "respite" was necessary, according to Schmid. "Some will still remember the issue of the fabric price escalation clause. What was supposed to help us tended to slow us down," Schmid said, explaining this by saying that it was "incredibly difficult and time-consuming to find a base price for certain materials." Only a new tender brought the hoped-for offers. According to the head of the town hall, not everyone was completely satisfactory, but there was no more time to lose: "We want to try to get ahead of the wave, at least as far as the space available for childcare is concerned." The government of Upper Bavaria has already approved a subsidy of a good two million euros for the approximately eleven million euros in cultivation.

Architect Matthias Marschner from Hirner & Riehl is confident that he will be able to meet the deadline and was pleased that the market town awarded his office the contract: "It was a compliment when we were asked to take over and continue the concept of the existing building." In fact, the existing daycare center with its timber construction shines with a particularly pleasant indoor climate, which has already aroused the curiosity of one or the other group of trade visitors. "I see this as an activity that the building material wood for daycare centers and our advertising for it is right," added Marschner. This time, however, it was a challenge to accommodate seven groups on the vacant plot and to design the extension in such a way that it can be operated independently of the existing building. The team of architects solved this with a connecting corridor, a separate entrance at the corner of Rosenheimer Straße and Erich-Kästner-Straße and a two-storey construction.

Proof that a wooden building can also be repaired can be seen a few meters away from the groundbreaking ceremony. After the arson attack on the existing daycare center in November last year, the renovation work under the emergency roof is progressing well. Although it was difficult to find craftsmen, Schmid promised: "We will definitely be finished on September 1st." Hac
