After days of speculation and dissemination of polls with different results, the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, confirmed on Tuesday that the only candidate of the PRO in the City will be Jorge Macri.
In this way, the Minister of Health of Buenos Aires, Fernán Quirós, is left out of the internal of Together for Change, who was relegated in the results of the surveys that he ordered to be carried out by the space.
"This is not a decision that is made quickly, but it is a decision that is taken well and conscientiously. Both Fernán and Jorge have ample capacity to face this challenge. Jorge has a very consolidated voting intention and Fernán a very auspicious potential," said Rodríguez Larreta in a letter published on his Twitter account, entitled "The Future of the City."
In this context, the Mayor of the City said: "Faced with this evidence is that, together and with the generosity of Fernán to always privilege the unity and potential of the PRO, we have decided that to guarantee the continuity of all the changes that we have carried out in the City and to work for all the challenges that still remain to be achieved, Jorge will be the candidate of the PRO to compete for the Head of Government of the City in the next elections PASO of August".
In addition, the leader of the PRO used the letter to "thank with all my heart Fernán" Quirós, whom he defined as "a human being with capital letters, a tireless worker and a defender of the integral well-being of people."
Rodríguez Larreta also expressed his "support" for Jorge Macri: "I trust him and I am sure that he will leave everything to live up to the legacy that Mauricio began in 2007 and that I had the honor of continuing since 2015. Jorge is a man with a unique experience and management capacity, which made Vicente López one of the most developed municipalities in the country."

According to Clarín, Rodríguez Larreta confirmed this Monday night in a pizzeria in Palermo to Jorge Macri that he will be the PRO candidate for head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires in the PASO on August 13. The decision was made in the last hours after receiving the results of the surveys commissioned to Isonomía, Trespuntozero and Aresco.

In this context, the good intention to vote that Macri showed in relation to Quirós, initially promoted by the head of the Buenos Aires Government, but above all in comparison with Martín Lousteau, the radical candidate in the PASO of Together for Change, ended up being decisive for the election of the candidate.
Less than a month before the deadline for the presentation of the lists of pre-candidates, the head of the Buenos Aires Government already has a single candidate to succeed him within the PRO.
Rodríguez Larreta had expressed on several occasions that beyond his good relationship with Lousteau, with whom he maintains a political partnership at the national level, as a leader of the PRO he would support a candidate who emerged from the same political party.
In the middle of the month, the small table of the PRO defined that the succession of Larreta in the City would be defined between Jorge Macri and Fernán Quirós. The meeting was attended by the current head of government, Patricia Bullrich, Mauricio Macri and María Eugenia Vidal, who days before had given up seeking the head of the Buenos Aires Government in these elections.
Previously, two Buenos Aires leaders whom Larreta had enabled to compete had dropped their candidacies: Emmanuel Ferrario and Soledad Acuña.
After the definition of the PRO, in the PASO there will be four candidates who will compete within Together for Change to succeed Rodríguez Larreta: Jorge Macri, Martín Lousteau (UCR), Graciela Ocaña (Public Trust) and Roberto García Moritán (United Republicans).
